So Yeah. Today was my first full day in the v*gan lifestyle. I'm still processing on weather to be vegetarian or vegan, but I will make that decision soon enough. My mom even tried to tempt me with meat. I just ate a salad and a banana for dinner tonight! lol This was also my first time taking a multi-vitamin. Those things are HUGE!!! BUt I'll get used to it I'm just super happy that my family is finally accepting my being a veg. I'm also really looking forward to a healthier and happier me, because I know I won't feel bad about eating meat any longer and all the bad things from the meat and cheese etc. won't be there anymore. SUPER DUPER EXCITED!!!

That's amazing, congratulations!

That sounds like a very light dinner though, make sure you're getting enough calories and fat. Sometimes people will try going vegetarian and then give up after a few days/weeks because they feel weak and shaky. It happened to me the first time I tried it, I replaced heavy fatty foods with nothing but lettuce and carrots and apples and within a few days I was really dizzy and slipped up.

So make sure you eat well! There are literally thousands of delicious vegetarian meals out there to try that have all the nutrients you need and will leave you full and satisfied. And this is a fantastic place to get advice on tasty things to eat, enjoy the food adventure!

Yes, this much I understand. Thats one thing thats going to be an issue for me is eating enough. I honesly swear to you that I do not have an eating disorder, but I don't really eat much at all. Some days that there might be all that I eat, because I'm just not hungry, but I'm working on it. Thank you very much for the advice

Congratulations! I know what you mean about eating enough. I used to eat a lot more before I became vegan. I think all the fiber I eat now fills me up! To be sure you are getting all the nutrients you need you should check out Jack Norris' site http://www.veganhealth.org/ and Ginny Messina's blog http://www.theveganrd.com/. They also have a new book called Vegan For Life http://www.amazon.com/Vegan-Life-Eve...2479338&sr=8-1. I'm curently reading it and it's very good. Be sure to ask if you have any questions! Karen

Congrats! It feels good to be able to have some control over your own life. especially when it comes to something that you have an extreme ethical/ moral opposition to.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but I was wondering if a salad an banana are a typical meal for you? The reason I ask is because *if* that is a typical meal for you, you won't be getting enough calories, fat, carbs, or protein for the most part unless you are putting things like lots of beans, varied veggies, grains, oils, flax on your salads. You may end up feeling lightheaded and hungry again after a few hours and your family could do the whole, "See, a vegetarian diet is making you sick" spiel. I'm a mom, so I can't help but make sure that everyone is balancing their diet.

No its no problem at all Actually yes, I really don't eat very much at all. If I only eat when I'm hungry, I only eat one or two small meals a day. It's something I'm working on though. I'm gonna have to learn to eat or else when school starts I'm gonna be the anorexic one. Hahaha
