Looking online for a place to eat lunch today, I ran across Firehouse Subs. Never been there before, so I looked at their menu. According to their allergen info page, it contains fish. I sent them an email asking for the entire ingredient list for the veggie sub because I think fish is a strange non-vegan ingredient. I can understand milk or egg in the bread or mayo, but where does fish come in to the list?

Anyways, I will post their reply as soon as I get it. FYI, here's their allergen info page:

Got a reply and here it is (I took out the manager's name because I am not asking for permission to post this reply):

Hello,

Thanks for your inquiry. The vegetable based au jus in which our sautéed vegies are steeped contains Worcestershire Sauce, which comes standard with anchovy as an ingredient. While there are minute traces of the Worcestershire Sauce, we do disclose that it contains fish because of the anchovy ingredient.

Please let me know if you have any further questions!

Kind Regards,

Exactly what I was thinking. I was actually surprised that they were so honest about it. For some reason I would assume most places wouldn't even consider or care to list it.
