Several weeks ago I upgraded to the 5.0 version of FF.

Now every single time I launch FF, a second tab loads/opens for the "welcome to Firefox" page (in addition to the home page I set up)

I'm using Windows XP.

It also checks version compatibility with the add- ons every single time even though I unchecked the box for that option.

I sent this issue to FF support, and since then 14 other people have reported the same issue, but I haven't received a response.

Is there some setting I can alter? If not, can some one point me to a website where I can download version 4?

Thanks!

You can download any version of firefox from ftp.mozilla.org

go to pub, firefox, releases, then choose the version you want and download it.

Instead of that, you could try launching firefox in safe mode and reset everything.

go to start>programs>firefox>firefox safe mode. you'll get options to reset things, then relaunch it.

thanks Jay.

I just ended up completely removing every trace of FF from my system and then reloaded it, which fixed the problem.
