Finally come to my senses.

I just signed up and have all of things I want to discuss. Will post after this.

After years of trying to discover the source of my mysterious weight gain, I have finally found it. At some stage it was so heavily ingrained in me to never cut out protein. Knowing what I know now, I've done a complete about face. It just came to me at around 3 a.m one morning.

Long story short, I'm in my 40's, a male, and for someone who has been obsessive about being healthy all my life, things have slipped down hill fast. Weight gain, the works. Anyway, now I eat plenty of starch, fruit and vegetables (all natural) and I feel much better. I concentrate better and I'm lighter on my feet when I exercise.

I feel a little thick now that I realize the source of some of my woes over the years. I just can't believe that I never considered animal based proteins and fat but cutting this out has made the world of difference. :D

Welcome to Veggieboards! :hi:

Have you seen the movie Forks Over Knives? I highly recommend it, it's a great intro to the health benefits of plant based eating. I think it's available on Netflix. I've read hundreds of inspiring stories from people who have lost weight by eating this way, it can be life changing! :D

Hi tomadom,

Here is a very well-done Vegetarian Starter Guide from Mercy For Animals. On page 13, it does a great job of summarizing vegetarian nutrition. It also includes lots of very easy meal ideas: http://www.mercyforanimals.org/files/VSG.pdf
