Hey, I'm happy to just keep going back in time until we have every movie decade covered. I was born in Hollywood, California, so film discussion comes naturally to me.

And oh, by the way, the further we go back in time, the more likely the films we discuss will be in *gasp* black and white, not in color. Get over it.

Anyway, there are actually quite a few films from the 1950's that I'm happy to watch.

A Streetcar named Desire
The Invisible Man
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Marty
Father of the Bride, the original, with Spencer Tracy and Elizabeth Taylor
Singin' in the Rain
Mister Roberts
Rebel Without a Cause
Around the World in 80 Days, Mike Todd's glorious version, with David Niven, Cantiflas, and Shirley McLaine
Oklahoma!
The King and I
12 Angry Men
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
Auntie Mame
Some Like it Hot (my favorite Marilyn Monroe movie)
not to mention a nifty farce called Monkey Business with MM at the outset of her career, also featuring Cary Grant and Ginger Rogers

...and that's just scratching the surface.

ETA: Damn, how could I forget Alfred Hitchcock, the master?

so I have to include in the list North by Northwest and Rear Window, both 50's films. My other two favorite Hitch films are Psycho and The Birds, which actually belong in the Sixties thread.
