For the last few weeks my ankles and feet hurt. I can't walk at times. I looked it up and two things came up. The first is archiles tendionitis the other is heel spurs.

The pain feels like it is deep in my bones and is sharp. It feel like my skin is pulled tight around the tops of my feet. Walking helps it sometimes. It is usually hurting the most when I wake up and after jogging at night.

What could it be? Please help...

Stop jogging and see if it eases off. I had ankle and feet pain and it turned out to be caused by trapped nerves in my spine. See someone.

But I do more of a power walk. It has nothing to do with this or I think it would have happened 3 years ago when I started. I am thinking it is ill fitting shoes. I am going to continue to walk with better shoes.

If I were you, I would go visit a chiropractor and have him or her adjust your spine and traction all of your joints. Shoulder, wrist, hip, ankle etc. More than likely you have something out of whack and itis causing a pinched nerve. I go through this all the time and it goes away after I see my chiropractor.

Maybe at this point I should mention I don't have insurance and pretty much live off of finacial aid for college which is less than $8,000 a year. A doctor to me is fancy...chiropractor? I think not...

I've always had problems with my right foot (it wasn't in the right place at birth). There are tons of things that could be wrong, most of which are minor.

Pulled tendon, ripped tendon, inflamation of nerves, nerve damage, pinched nerve, the bone spurs (although would possibly require surgery if were), arthritis, just to name a few. And something really screwy: a broken bone.

You may think that's impossible, but I actually broke a bone in my foot, and only had minor pain and a weird grinding sensation. Didn't find out until a few months later when I had an x-ray done (long story short - broken bone caused me to walk differently, pulling a tendon leading to the x-ray). Come to find out, some broken bones in a foot are faily common, some of them not even causing pain in some people.

A general solution to everything would be to back off the running/jogging, and only walk if it doesn't hurt (say for 1-2weeks), if it persists, then you may have to go to a doctor.

Although you did mention shoes, if the soles are worn down you'll be increasing the impact on your body, same with ill-fiting shoes. Also there's the treads being worn down on the sides (not even) which would lead to you not walking properly, which while increasing activity could lead to pain.

Like I said, there's tons of stuff. If stopping the jogging/running (decreasing the walking) doesn't help at all, and you try a different pair of shoes with no effect, a doctor (there are foot specialists - mine is only $25 a visit) would be your only resort I'd think.

I think it is something nerve related after all. It looks like my foot is bruised on the inside! Also a bit swollen. I walked tonight with minor problems, then came home and got off my feet and then it started killng me. What hurts the most is walkig down stairs and of course I live upstairs!

I would stop walking but it actually feels good when I walk. I read a few pages that say walking foot pain off is ok. I take it easy though. I am loking for new shoes and hopefully the college I go to can give me some free medical help. I thought about buyig some Tiger Balm or ice packs and am not sure what would be better. So far when it hurts I soak it or wrap it and keep off it. If it is a weird pain I will walk it off then prop it up.
