I've seen many recipes that use Nutritional Yeast. Does anyone have a brand they prefer over others? Or is it pretty much all the same? I am not sure if I can find this in my local grocery stores so, can I get it online?

They all pretty much taste the same. It comes in powder and flakes. If you use the powder, use half the amount called for in the recipe unless it specifically calls for the powder.

There is a nutty tasting nutritional yeast that is light brown in color. That's not the one you want if you're going for the cheesey taste. The yellow one lends the cheesey flavor.

Two online sources I know of are bulkfoods.com and iherb.com

Initially, Red Star was the only brand I could find. Now it is becoming more readily available in bulk form. I don't find a noticeable difference in any of it. I only know I love nutritional yeast and couldn't live without it!

Mock on, guys. Nooch is so good, I could eat it with a spoon. I sprinkled some on my popcorn yesterday, but it settled to the bottom of the bowl. So, ya know what I did? I tapped it all to one side of the bowl and then dumped it straight in my mouth and just ate it dry.

Heck yeah, I totally do the same! You go, girl!

We recently found this recipe for nooch queso sauce and my boyfriend says it tastes similar to his mom's cheese queso (big compliment to me because he's been brutally, almost harshly honest when I've messed up Mexican style cooking in the past his family is from Mexico): http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=12238.0

We use black beans and cayenne pepper instead of salsa, it's so easy to make and AWESOME!

I make that sauce pretty regularly, whenever we have tacos or enchiladas. In fact, I have some made up right now. I also make a nacho dip for tortilla chips with it by mixing it with some refried beans and salsa. Sometimes I add TVP or Boca burger crumbles. Love that stuff.
