Fava Beans with Fresh Garlic and Sage<br><br>
Category: Side Dishes<br><br><br><br>
Suitable for a: vegan diet<br><br><br><br><br><br>
Ingredients:<br><br>
------------------------------------------------------<br><br><br><br>
3 pounds fava beans<br><br>
3 Tbsp olive oil<br><br>
3 Tbsp Earth Balance (or for real yumminess, use walnut oil)<br><br>
Chopped garlic sprouts (or green onions)<br><br>
Salt/pepper<br><br>
1 Tbsp chopped fresh sage<br><br><br><br><br><br>
Instructions:<br><br>
------------------------------------------------------<br><br><br><br>
Boil or steam the shelled beans until tender and then remove the outer skins.<br><br>
Drain.<br><br>
Heat the oil and EB (or walnut oil) in a large skillet.<br><br>
Add the garlic shoots and fresh sage and stir over medium heat until the garlic is tender.<br><br><br><br>
Add the fava beans and stir to coat. Season to taste with salt and freshly ground pepper and serve hot.<br><br><br><br>
Soooooo yummy.<br><br><br><br><br><br>

Wooops! I almost posted this recipe again!<br><br>
I just made this again, after yesterday's visit to the Farmer's market for Fava beans and garlic sprouts. Oh MAN it's yummy!<br><br><br><br>
Guess I'll go post it on my blog...

Oh, this would be so good with FRESH fava beans!!! I actually like (don't laugh) lima beans and white beans made this way too, with sage or rosemary. OH and lots of white and black pepper! And nutritional yeast! And umeboshi vinegar! Damn, I am hungry. Gotta go! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/tongue3.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":p">

I <i>do</i> use fresh fava beans in this. Do you mean like raw fresh? Hmmm.
