Hi, I was reading about two places called Farm Sanctuary in New York and California in another thread. Since I live in California, I would like to visit the one here. I e-mailed my husband on the carrier and asked what he thought (sadly he is a very stubborn omnivore). He said that as long as I am not trying to make him be a vegetarian, he thinks it would be ok. Anyways, I was wondering if any of you have been there and what you thought about it.

Hi Slp2b, I recently just went to Farm Sanctuary in Orland, CA and I loved it! I plan on interning at one, or both of it's locations once I turn 18 (the required age). When you visit the shelter, they take you on a half-hour tour around all the animal barns, telling you all about the animals and how Farm Sanctuary started, while letting you get up-close and personal with the animals (mainly the cows, goats, sheep and turkeys)! I loved visiting the sanctuary and encourage you to go too!!! It was an amazing experience for me.
I've been to the Farm Sanctuary in New York state and really loved it there. We are going back next month. They do give a lot of information when you're on the tour, but it's nothing meat eaters shouldn't be required to hear. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="

I went with my fam last year to the July 4th Pig-nic and it was wonderful and look forward to returning when we're able to. We spent time with many of the amazing animals, talked with soem of the workers, had great (and free) veg food, bought some stuff in their gift shop, and had a marvelous day all around. Very recommended! My non-veg cousins have also gone and had a positive experience.
