"Pork has a new-and-improved slogan. In an announcement that is guaranteed to avoid mockery or satire, the National Pork Board (NPB) has shifted from declaration to exhortation. No longer will pork's tagline be "The Other White Meat." From this day forward, the NPB demands that, as regards pork, we must "Be Inspired""
http://www.grist.org/article/2011-03...-inspirational

Pork as inspirational? WHAT.

Inspired? By a meat that's specifically forbidden in the The Bible??? Given how supposedly Christian this country is, I find the irony to be quite humorous.

Well, to be fair, it's forbidden in the pre-Christian part of the Bible. Paul of Tarsus would have had an even harder time getting Romans onboard with the new religion if he hadn't listened to their advice: "You can take away our orgies or our bacon. But if you try to take away both we're sticking with the gods we have."

I don't know if anyone saw in the news about the South Korean mass culls. They showed a video of pigs being chased and pushed into a large hole and then burned and burried alive. I threw up. Ugh.

I always had a thing about pork anyway, but this was just sick and cruel and so upsetting.

It's a pity that they don't take that thought about the emotional connection to their "product" to it's logical conclusion.
