It seems that every conversation with my mom turns out in a big argument. and I feel bad for hurting her feelings. It seems we have very different views on things and just dont see things the same way. I dont know what to do. I feel that maybe she thinks i dont like her or she doesnt like me. I cant even have one civilized conversation with her. Can someone help

Stop talking! Heh. This sounds like dumb advice... But I think it works. You and your mom love each other. You have that, family bond... Just, when you talk about certain issues, arguments arise. ..So! Hop on the couch, turn on a good movie, and pop some popcorn to keep your mouths busy. If you spend an evening just being together without fighting, it might help soothe the relationship.

Do you live together? My mom and I used to fight constantly when we lived together. Now that I live a couple hundred miles away, I am able to get some perspective.

It's easy to yell at those we are most close too. Would you yell at a complete stranger?

Try to think of your mom, as NOT your mom. Think of her as simply another human being. A human being with hopes, dreams, fears, failures, successes and imperfections--just like you.

As children we often tend to see our parents as one thing: parents. We forget that they had lives before us. They they are just as scared and insecure as the rest of us. That they are as needy as the rest of us. That they deserve love & respect like the rest of us. That they really don't know everything, and are often smarter & wiser than we give them credit for.

You need to break the cycle. Whenever you two start to yell, say something inane & nonsensical. Like "Did you know Turtles don't wear hats because they can't fit them in their shells?" Or something crazy like that. It'll help to snap you two out of the cycle you are diving into, and hopefully get you to laugh and take a step back at what you are doing to each other.
