I go to a salon that uses aveda products, so I don't worry about the hair stuff.<br><br><br><br>
I do get my eyebrows waxed. I never even thought about what it would be made out of. I don't know if it's beeswax, soy wax or some other kind of wax :wonder:<br><br><br><br>
I would love to try threading. I've heard very good things. I am another light skin- dark hair- hairy, hairy girl, so I understand the necessity of the wax to help keep the tweezing more accurate (and easier).

I am so lucky I don't have runaway eyebrows. I could never wax or tweeze, the thought gives me the willies! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/shocked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=""><br><br><br><br>
I cut my own hair. That was unhelpful. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/grin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":D">

My brows are low maintenance, although I'm a member of the "light skin, dark hair" club. My friend who showed me how to thread didn't think there was anything worth ripping out <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/grin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":D"> If you're brave, you could try to learn it yourself (<a href="http://www.indiaparenting.com/beauty/article.cgi?art_id=133" target="_blank">instructions</a>) and just tweeze the risky bits.

I cut my own hair and I have terrible brows <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/tongue3.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":p"> I tweeze every couple days but I don't know how to do it right and so I just guess.<br></div>

You sound like me! I cut my own hair and pluck my eyebrows only when I think of it. I'm lucky though, my eyebrows are pale and not at all hairy. I only pluck them when I have somewhere extra fancy to go. They actually look fine unplucked.

I never get my hair washed at the hairdresser, I always do it myself before-hand. I hate how they hassle you the whole time they're cutting your hair to buy their hair products! I would love to find a vegan salon, but I don't think there's one around my area... <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/sad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":(">

At my old work, we had several clients who brought their own products in and one lady actually bought some stuff and we kept it under the sinks to use only on her when she came in. Im sure it would be fine, especially if you call and ask/tell them why beforehand.

The threading instructions are wonderful, thank you. I'm going to try this weekend.<br><br><br><br>
I think I'll probably just ask her about bringing in my own products. Thanks everyone. :]

Someone already mentioned Aveda but I will too. They do use some beeswax and some honey in some products but not much. Here's a list: <a href="http://veganfreaks.org/index.php?id=53" target="_blank">http://veganfreaks.org/index.php?id=53</a>

What about lip bleach? Please tell me thats vegan. *sighs*</div>
</div>
<br><br><br><br><br>
VeganEssentials sells vegan hair bleach - If you were careful you could use on your lip I guess.<br><br><br><br>
Don't bleach mine so not sure.<br><br><br><br><br><br>
To answer original post:<br><br><br><br>
I know there are some salons that use vegan natural products. I used to be a hair dresser - there were a few people bought in their own shampoo for us to use on them - I don't see why it would be a big deal.<br><br><br><br>
I cut my own hair (obviously). There was a thread on cutting one's own hair in the Frugal forum a bit ago. I left instructions in there of how to cut one's own hair.

Well, my hair is long, straight and all one length - no layers - so it is easy to cut. If I had short, layered hair I would probably have some one else do it - at least the back. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":)">

I have short, layered hair. :p I've cut it before, but it didn't turn out well. I guess the best solution for me is going to be asking my stylist if I can bring in my own products, and learning how to thread.

is there an Ulta store near you?<br><br>
they have salons inside the store, and there is a vegan hair product line that they sell there called Abba. you just ask the hair stylist to only use the abba products.
