Hello.
My name is Kay, I'm 22, I'm from Australia, and I've been a pescatarian for about a year now.
I stopped eating meat because of medical reasons, but also because I just don't like the taste of it, I don't like the way animals are treated, and I don't want to support that.
But mainly I started for medical reasons and to lose weight.

In about 2009 I decided to change my life by not eating things with words on labels that I didn't understand, and preservatives. Then in 2010 I stopped eating as much red meat, and noticed when I hadn't eaten meat in a while I felt lighter and less disgusting on the inside. It wasn't long before I cut it out completely.

Since then I've developed what I suspect to be a dairy intolerance, and the only thing I can tollerate is sheeps milk in the form of Halumi cheese, but it's hard to find a reputable organic source that doesn't cost the earth :/

And so here I am, twenty kilos lighter, healthier, happier, and can look a little lamb in the eye and not feel one pang of guilt.

It's nice

I joined this forum because I'm always on the hunt for new recipes to cook, people to talk to, and I just really enjoy being on forums.

In my day to day life I'm a singing teacher and a student doing a BA majoring in music, so... yeah that's about it.

Recently I bought a pasta rolling machine... thing (I don't know what it's name is, it's the hand crank thing that rolls pasta and then cuts it) and it was the happiest day of my life. Nothing is nicer than fresh pasta. Yummm.

Welcome, Kay!

Please note that on Veggieboards, we don't consider pescatarianism to be a form of vegetarianism, and we definitely consider fish to be meat. Please don't discuss eating fish here, as it is against the rules. We hope you will be inspired to cut the last remaining bits of animal flesh out of your diet.

That said, welcome again, and I'm glad that cutting your meat consumption has had such a positive effect on you.

Yes Welcome to the VeggieBoards and I agree with Dormouse, I had to cut seafood out of my diet first because my husband's intolerence too it and I couldn't cook it in the house because it stunk up the house and made my husband sick so that was first to go, then the rest followed because of health reasons also.
