A friend sent me some Garfield cartoons where Garfield's words are edited out as well as Garfield himself.

Huh. If you'd have asked me yesterday if Garfield could be any less funny, I probably would have said no.

Less funny? I think the point of some of them is that it's funnier this way, and I agree. Some of them are so depressing or mundane that it's funny, whereas others are surreal/absurdist and I love absurdist humor, like this:

I think this was among the best. It's funny in a more traditional, but yet slightly weird way, and it's most certainly true that no words could possibly improve it:

I love garfield just the way he is. Poo on those who think he's dumb or needs to be changed. No one is going to enjoy every cartoon, that's why there are whole papers full of them...so that you can pick and choose what you want to read and skip the ones you don't... you're not supposed to change them if you don't like them. I think that is just an insult to the artist. Garfield, you can stuff your face with lasagna or sit with a grumpy face and say nothing and I will always love you.
