I've been doing so well lately... I've managed to eat real meals, and get myself back up to a healthy weight. But just this past weekend, my period returned (sorry, tmi) for the first time in months... and it was just sort of a shocker. I feel like I'm eating like a glutton, even though I haven't changed anything, and I'm kind of in a permanent state of panic wherever food is concerned. I don't know why I'm being so stupid about it all of a sudden. Help, please?

Sorry, I don't know enough about EDs to help! It sounds like it has more to do with overeating as opposed to not eating enough? Are you worried that you will stop eating again? Maybe it's hormonal and you will feel better in a few days since you just got your period. Do you have a professional you can go to for counseling?

sometimes with an ED, you eat more until things are all balanced out. your metabolism is like a fire - you feed it and it burns..

It's good that you got your period again - it's a sign that you are doing the right thing and looking after your body. Things will settle down if you relax and let things even out a bit. Just stick with it mkay?!

It's good your body is working a little better now, and becomming more healthy. I guess it isn't how much your eating but why you feel the need to resctrict what you eat, and dealing with that. Do you have a counsler ? if not you can speak to your doctor. Try blending up food, or eating healthy food (so you feel less guilty) or soft foods that are a bit easyer to eat, maybe try eating and doing something else so your intire attention isn't focused on that your eating. Maybe follow a strict eating plan , often your ED is a way of gaining control so if you gain control of your eating (instead of letting it gain control of you) you might feel more able to eat.

Do you belong to any eating disorder suport sites? Be careful there are lots of Pro-ed sites lurking around the internet and can be bad news.

Take care. x
