If I only eat a bit, only until 80% full or whatever, I am hungry every 2-3 hours, and to tell you the truth, its just annoying! If I just stuff myself once, then I feel sickened by food and I eat much less. But I have to wonder, which is better for weight loss/control, and which is healthier? It can't be healthy to stuff myself, but I actually believe that I eat less when I do that once a day...because I feel so disgusted by food. What do you think?

But its just a pain in the butt, Krista!! I just eat and then I get hungry again, and I feel like I am shoveling it home all day!! I have been trying to eat in moderation, and I do pretty good, but I just get fed up with being constantly hungry. Maybe my body needs to get used to it, too. I am trying.

Seriously, frequent smaller meals are way better. Big meals tax your body!

eating smaller meals frequently is better for the digestive system. like freemouse said, big meals do tax your body.

eating is just another never ending task, sort of like cleaning your room. as soon as you do it, you have to do it again.

Small, frequent meals is much much better for you... But just so you know you're not crazy: When I come home after a long day of eating very little and binge on dinner... I'm totally stuffed and don't want to eat again the rest of the night. However, I've probably taken in less total daily calories on account of only being able to fit so much in my tummy in one sitting.

But this is not a suggestion to eat this way (exclamation point - my one key is broken). Smaller meals are way healthier and give you more sustained energy throughout the day.

Don't let the omnis give you crap about being hungry all the time, either. They'll try, but remind them that the meat they ate is still rotting in their stomach.

EEWW epski!Thats gross,but so true!

I find that I'm hungry every two hours, kinda like clock work.If two hours have passed without me seeing the clock I will know that its two hours later!Actually now that I think about it,my mom told me that when I was a baby,I cried every two hours to be fed.

I usually eat 3 meals with 3 snacks in between. It has helped my hunger pains.

Gook luck!

It depends on what you eat also. I tend to eat a lot of higher calorie foods and things that stick to my ribs. I don't eat as many greens as I should but get by on 3 meals a day without getting real hungry between meals. I don't think I get hungy any faster now than when I was an omnivore. I just eat until I start to get full but don't stuff myself, at least not often.

i think small meals are better for weight loss because the body is constantly using up energy. if you eat a lot at a time, you may not eat enough calories like charity mentioned, and that could result in some weight loss but that cannot be healthy in the long run. you want something that you can develop and continue to practice forever and i believe small meals are the best way to go. but i also agree with kyo, that you eat until you are full and then stop and see how it goes. you can only stuff yourself on special occasions .

if you're trying to lose weight you should eat small meals 6 times a day. rather than a big meal and then a small snack have two small meals, it's fairly easy if you make several meals worth of food ahead of time so you're not cooking all day.

a friend of ours is on the body for life system, and lost 40 lbs and is really healthy now. they don't focus as much on what you can and can't eat, they just say to have a fistful of carbs, a fistfull of protein, and fruit and veggies, at every meal. i think measuring by "fistfull" works because it accounts for your body size, for me it'd be a really small portion, for someone bigger who needs more food to get by, it's a bigger portion beacuse they have bigger fists. makes sense to me anyway

they also say if you're going to excercise to lose fat, do it right when you wake up in the morning, before you eat breakfast, and work out hard for 20 minutes, then have a big breakfast with your protein and carbs. if you eat before you work out you're burning off carbs and not fat. our friend lost about 3 or 4 lbs a day doing that, she's done losing now but is still eating the same way and staying at the same weight, hasn't gained it back etc.

my mom's been trying to lose and can't, because she'll have one big meal that she'll eat too fast, and then isn't hungry the rest of the day. if you don't eat enough your body will store whatever fat you do take in rather than use it right away, that's why starving yourself doesn't work.

Wow, do you mean 3 or 4 pounds a week?! I sure hope so...because 3-4 pounds a day is just not healthy (is it even possible?!)
