Why wait in line when you can just eat a cockroach? That's the question Six Flags Great America is asking its thrill seekers during its Halloween-themed FrightFest. The amusement park is daring customers to eat a live Madagascar hissing cockroach in exchange for unlimited line-jumping privileges.

The promotion, which has Lake County Health Department officials shaking their heads, starts Oct. 7.

Anyone who chows down the entire 2- to 3-inch horned cockroach gets a pass for four people to cut to the front of ride lines through Oct. 29.

That so stupid and unnecessary. You're still going to have to wait in the "roach eater" line. I bet they'll be surprised how many people will be up for it.

That's okay ... cockroaches will get the last laugh when us silly humans kill ourselves off and they're still enjoying life.

I would like to see that, but I would have to be near an amusement park, and it's not worth that amount of pain to my mind.

This is horrible. What a great way to encourage disrespect toward animals amongst children.

I really don't think there will be a huge lineup to eat a live 2 to 3 inch cockroach. That's pretty gross.

The last time I went to six flags the longest I had to wait in line was 5 minutes... o_O" Unless Fright Fest is unbearably busy, it's kind of stupid.

Either way, it's gross and cruel.

thats definately gonna tickle when it comes back the other way when you puke on a ride 5 minutes later.... unless you chew it really really well before you swallow.

If enough people eat the roaches, the non-roach-eating lines will be shorter. Thus, the joke's on them.

Yeah, when I went a couple weeks ago the lines were really short. I wouldn't have eaten a piece of bread to skip to the front of the line.

I have to give them credit, it was a good way to generate buzz.

I think the people who eat the cockroaches get to move ahead of everyone in the non-eating line, no matter what.

yeah, but if a whole bunch of people wanna eat roaches to get ahead of the queue, and there is only one guy handing out and supervising roach eating, the other wannabe roach eaters will need to form some kind of line, to wait for, and eat a roach.

if there are enough roach eaters in a queue waiting for their roach, the non roach eaters queue might end up being much faster- what with all the cringing and gagging and time involved in handing out and swallowing roaches, slowing down the roach queue.
