so yea

i've been vegan a couple of years now. i've always been somewhat skinny. for a while i was working out and doing the whole protein shake bit, but basically i'm too lazy to whip stuff around in a blender 3 times a day with washings in between.

so what would you say is the easiest way for a lazy 18 year old vegan to put some weight on?

i'm only weigh 135. i'd liek to hit 150 or so. i want to have big arms so i can look cool in white t-shirts and beat people up, ya know?

thanks

Lots of pasta and bread. Unused carb's will turn into fat quickly though, so make sure to include lots of "exercise"... unless you want 15 lbs of fat... in that case, just eat and watch tv

um, well violence isn't exactly something i agree with, but anyway... you have to figure out how many calories you need in a day for your weight, height etc, and calculate how many you're getting in a day. chances are you're just not getting enough calories. protein shakes won't necessarily make you gain weight, they're supposed to be combined with a lot of excercise to build muscle, which takes a lot more effort than gaining fat

so yeah i just recommend finding a chart somewhere online to calculate your dietary needs, and work out. if all you want is to bulk up your arms just lift some weights

If you want to gain muscle, there is only one way- lift weights. Get a weightlifting book it can help tell you how to get bulk vs. just tone and strength.

If you want to gain fat, two words: deep fried.

okay, i appreciate the replies buuuuuuut...

looking back now my original msg wasn't really clear enough. i'm well aware of the whole muscle/protein thing. and i'm italian so i'm already eating plenty of pasta.

i'm more or less looking to see if anyone has specific personal experience i guess. i want a fool to be like "hey listen, i was a twirp and i ate a plate of cabbage and sour crout each day and gained 30 pounds in two weeks"... or at least something in the ballpark.

never really thought of a calorie intake chart though... how funny is that, hah.

thanks

Well, I gained weight by eating a lot of vegan junk food but that's just not going to be healthy dude. Perhaps you can try eating fattier foods like more olive oils, avocadoes, cashews...nut butters, etc.?

Yeah, eat 2 packs of ramen noodles every day at around 1am. I can personally, and embarassingly, attest to this method of weight gain.

Eat more.

More of the same. Junkfood.

Heres how I gained weight when I had to.

Fill your plate, eat it till you feel satisfied and then eat more. If you keep on doing this your stomach will enlarge and the amount you eat will be more.

Cookies. Take a cookie with every cup of thea/coffee.

Crisps/pretzels. Eat them shortly before you go to sleep in.

Assuming the violence part is for self defence, I want you to know that strength is not the thing that determines who wins the fight.

If you feel a need to enhance your physical defence I recommend a Asian martial art.

A spud after my own heart! Although today is one of my 2 weekly healthy-days: No alcohol except red wine, and low fat and healthy foods (steamed rice -n- veg). The other 5 days it's open season on crap!

Eat a can of spinach every day and you'll gain 30 pounds in no time. ... I saw it on TV somewhere so I'm sure it works.

Brazil nuts are very high in fat. One cup of Brazil nuts = about 900 cals. I love brazil nuts but limit them to only a once a week treat.

Also one Avocado = about 300 cals

I think Beansprout has the idea....because do you really want to gain weight by eating poor foods? You might just gain another problem as a result from that. I'm sure that there must be a healthy way to gain weight. Gaining weight really isn't a goal of mine so it's not something I have researched, but I'm sure that there must be some resource you can use including the internet.

eat mueslix with soy milk for breakfast! the mueslix i get (oats, wheat, lots of nuts, and dried fruit) is: 18% fat, 10% saturated fat, 13g of protein, 20% iron, 6% calcium.. combine that with the soy milk and it's great
