Hi, I want to be a vegeterian before trying vegan. Often I don't make my own food because my mom prepares it but she is not vegetarian. So my goal is to eat vegerarian whenever I can so when I'll have to make my own food I'll be able to be a complete vegetarian. I don't like to make my food so I came on this forum to ask what is the shortest loop of food I can eat day after day (breakfast and lunch) so I could prepare my things for the whole week just 1 time and forget about preparing things. I don't care if I eat the same thing all the time.

Thanks

A vegetable stew is something nutritious and filling which you can make over the weekend, divide into portions, and freeze or refrigerate to heat up later.

Have you tried talking to your mom about your wanting to be vegetarian?

Porridge for breakfast (USAians call it 'oatmeal') fast and easy - even faster is muesli with soya milk
Lunch could be grain based like pasta salad or rice salad (you can prep this in bulk on a Sunday for the week ahead)
Dinner can be any beany dish like chilli or stew - again prep this for the week ahead and keep in the fridge
Supper can be toast - with marmite, peanut butter or something similarly easy and quick

Once you have a few core go-to recipes under your belt then you can play around and try other options.

I agree you should talk to your mom about maybe learning some veggie dishes for you. However, (and I'm not trying to be disrespectful here at all), you basically are saying you don't like to cook so you can't fully be vegetarian because your mom doesn't cook full vegetarian meals. Well, if you really want to be vegetarian/vegan, and cooking your food is what could make this happen, then you would do it. You really should be cooking/preparing food not only because it will help you be able to fully go veg, but because you won't always have your mom there to cook for you (like when you move out). Plus, cooking can be fun! You'd be surprised. And also, you cannot maintain a good healthy diet by only eating the same few things all the time. You need to keep your diet varied. Try learning quick easy dishes first, and then branch out. Many dishes can be made in larger amounts and frozen for later.
I hope you can make it all work out!

I definitely second the idea that you take up cooking--not only because you can make your own vegetarian meals, but because cooking is a wonderful skill that will come in handy throughout your life, and it's fun, too! :)

A super easy dinner that I do from time to time starts with a packaged 'skillet meal' (like Hamburger Helper--yes, really! believe it or not, many of their varieties are vegetarian...unless, of course, you add meat to them). I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE onions, so I start almost everything by sauteing some onions in olive oil. Then add faux meat, like my favorite Morningstar Farms Crumbles, and follow the package's directions from there. I like to throw in other stuff, too, like some frozen whole green beans, peas, corn, whatever's handy, plus some mushrooms. Toss in whatever you have on hand that you like. Cook it down to the desired consistency and you're good to go. Have a nice bowlful while it's hot, then refrigerate the rest and use it for lunches or dinners during the week. And have your parents try it. If they're anything like my non-veggie friends/relatives, they'll love it!

Hi Samuel,

You might like these. When I was a bachelor, I ate these all the time:

Canned beans (the no-salt kind) + Canned corn (the no-salt kind) + Tomatoes

Directions:
1. Rinse the beans and corn
2. Slice the tomatoes
3. Mix together
4. Add salsa from a jar
Eat

Pita bread + raw vegetables + hummus dip:

Directions:
1. Wash and cut up vegetables
2. Eat the bread and veggies with hummus

Eat plenty, not just 4 little slices like it shows above.

This one is easy, too:

1. Boil some spaghetti noodles - just follow the directions on the box, or ask someone to show you.
2. Mix in some canned vegetarian chili

Thank you for your answers, the tricks and the easy recipes :)

Yes but the idea is not from this week, she was vegetarian a long time ago and still wants to become one but she doesn't have the will.
