I bought my mother a dumpling steamer for Christmas, and her and I are eager to use it. We however only have one recipe for vegetarian dumplings. We are newbies to this sort of cooking, and would be grateful for any recipes, or advice. Anyone else cook with one of these beauties?

I don't use a steamer but I've made many delicious vegan dumplings. Basically once you get the dough or wrapper down, you can fill it with anything. My favorite is a simple mix of rehydrated tvp, braggs, and ginger. I usually do them potsticker style though.

3 c All purpose flour

\t\t

1 lb hamburger substitute of choice (I use boca crumbles)1 Onion; chopped \t

1/2 lb Daikon, spinach or cabbage, \t

\t -chopped fine \t

1 Garlic clove; minced \t

1 tsp Fresh ginger; grated \t

2 Green onion; chopped (white \t

\t \t-and green both; no roots) \t

2 tb Fresh cilantro; chopped \t

Salt

Mix flour and the water; knead and form into a ball. Let rise covered with a wet towel or plastic wrap for 30 min.

Bring a large pot of water to the boil.

Cut dough into 12 - 18 pieces and roll into small flat circles.

Mash together all filling ingredients. Place a spoonful of filling on each dough circle, folding over and crimping to seal.

Place in a steamer and steam on high for 30 min
