This reminds me of a segment I saw on TV (can't remember the show) where they where taking up a petition to "End Women's Suffrage" and you should have seen the lines down the street waiting to sign the sucker... heh...

So he has to memorize where all the states are and stuff? That shouldn't take 11 years, on average.

BTW - I'm kidding.

I really hope that was staged. I can't imagine how it could be real. I can understand one person not knowing their continents, but not that many.
Unfortunately it probably wasn't. At the beginning of my husband and his mother's college level classes (they don't teach together but teach the same subjects at different universities in different states) they have all of the kids make a map of the continents. I always look at them and some of them are very painful. A few of the kids don't know where South America is. You live in North America and you don't know where South America is? Out of about 100 kids only a handful get them all correct right.

He then has them fill out just a map of the states. Most of them did not know how to label the majority of the states. Some kids were not sure where their home state was! You would think they were just goofing around but he said they were serious.

Means nothing. For the survey takers to get a dozen people on audio-video media who don't know that Australia is not North Korea, or thought that we should invade France, and Canada, it could have taken them a few weeks, and several thousand trials. We don't see the thousands of "tape-feet" that were cut out, showing smart people, just the few that showed the dumb people. For all we there are 12,000 smarties for each of the dummies we see.

Probably editing. I can understand not being able to pinpoint Iran or North Korea but most people should know where Australia is.

Wow, this guy's full of assumptions...

When you interview someone walking on the street mostly likely you'll find stupid ppl...they're less likely to own a car and they probably live in a rundown part of town. I don't see any ppl with jobs answering these questions? They look like bums.

I believe this. And the older you get, the more you might forget what you learned in school with regards to geography.

Also, I think those people may have been thrown off by being asked to label an incorrect map. Australia was labeled North Korea, Iran, and other countries. I think when people saw that, they may have second guessed themselves and thought it was labeled correctly.
