I've never had dreadlocks, but I used to put my entire head in little braids. After so long, they got a bit dreadlocky.

My ex-husband had dreadlocks that I helped him start. I put a bunch of weaves in them, which looked pretty cool. I always think women look so sexy with them. There were always a ton of them at Grateful Dead concerts.

I did once, but not really hardcore ones, I just had them for a few days for a concert. I went thru so much wax doing them. I love Mikeh Pfifer's in 8 Mile.

I never had dreads even when I had waist length hair. I did have it in braids a few times. Now my hair isn't long enough for dreads.

LF, if you work in an old ladies'clothes shop, why don't you try lavender hair? You'd fit right in.

OK--stupid question from someone (me) who's obviously too old to know this without asking a different generation--How do you "do" dreads? Is ist possible for someone who has really fine, really straight hair?

there's a website someone posted somewhere, i don't remember it. but i went and read the how-to, it seems really easy, but time consuming.

you just seperate the hair into sections and back-comb it right to the roots, twist it up and put wax in it to hold the shape, as your hair grows it'll keep growing into dreads, if you do it right.

I get lots of questions about my dreads...www.knottyboy.com is where I got my wax from; they have lots of facts about those wondering about all aspects of the hairstyle as well. It's true that when I dont want them anymore, I'll have to cut 'em off, but not necessarily shave my head. That won't be for awhile though.

I've always wanted to dread my hair but I don't want to have to cut them off, I just want my hair back. It takes SO long for my hair to grow and it would take years and year to get it back to a length I would want. So, *pout*
