I suppose you're referring to that other soup, the "Roasted Squash and White Bean Soup"?

Yep, that picture of the chicken is pretty disgusting. Nasty chicken paste aside, I don't really like seeing companies using cartoon characters to sell snacks and food. I don't have kids, but down the road when I do, I'm not looking forward to the knowledge that healthy meals will be competing against entertainment value.

Now, that squash and white bean soup on the other hand looks really good.

We gave up on the condense junk long time ago , but we are still pushed with it when we go ask for food help, I am going to say I hope I can budget our food bill so we can just not get this crap. I rather make alaphbet soup for children if I had any.

So, you're able to mainly get vegetarian food when you get food help? What kind of food do they give you?

Disgusting! Ewww, that picture of the chicken really grossed me out....ewwwwwwww

A tip for those who never had kids before.....don't ever ever ever even start to buy your kids that stuff with the cartoon characters on it. I am very lucky that I never have for my son. He is almost 4 now and goes to he grocery store with me every week, and he never even thinks to ask me for the cans and other junk with cartoon characters on it, becuase I never buy it, never have. I am not so sure he even realizes that it is "food". He doesn't even ask for candy because I never buy that either (but he does like the candy containers with the light up airplans and such).

To get through the grocery store my trick is to pack some sliced fruit to take along, I usually bring apples in a tupperware container. Works like a charm. He sits in the cart snacking away happy as can be, too busy to look at all the crap I am not buying. Also, the majority of the time I am at the grocery store is spent in either the produce section, or the "natural food" section. We don't eat dairy or meat, so the rest of the grocery store pretty much is useless to me. I even by my eggs in the natural food section because I only buy organic, cage-free eggs, "from hens fed a vegetarian diet".

But he notices the toy section though......

I read that post as meaning, if Veglady seeks food assistance, then it's harder for her family to stay 100% veggie, because the food assistance given, is often meat based junk like the Campbell's chicken soup of the thread?

Oh god that pink foamy crap is so gross. It knots my stomach up to think I've eatten that stuff.

The artical was hilarious though, a great read if at the least for a quick laugh. Mmm and I love squash soup, with a little sprinkle of old bay seasoning and dill on top. I'll have to save this recipe to warm me up on a cold evening.
