As I'm sure you're all aware, World Vegan Day [Nov. 1st] is fast approaching. :sheep:

How do you celebrate? Any fun plans? :shy:

I'm not sure yet, but I am thinking of doing something. I have some vegan activism T shirts and might wear one that day. Maybe I will eat out at a restaurant that offers vegan food. Or maybe I will take a few hours to leaflet. I used to do a lot of leafleting for Vegan Outreach before I landed a full time job. I still have a box full of them that need to be distributed. Just can't think of any place around that there would be a lot of people in one place on a Saturday. Hmm.

What about you?
Sounds good, particuarily the eating part! ^w^

Do you enjoy your job atleast? There's tons of people everywhere on a Saturday I say flyer as many of them as possible! I'm pretty lucky, got until the 15th of November before school tries to tie me down again so plenty of time :shifty:

I'll probably eat lots of yummy food and head out for some activism, but that doesn't seem much different from other days. Considering getting tattooed in solidarity with 269 - will need to find an artist who uses vegan ink first though.

Yes I am enjoying my new job so far. I just started it a few weeks ago. I finished college and passed a certification exam and landed the job (where I interned last year) all within the same three months. I am working as an ambulatory medical coder in a large medical complex. I work 8-4:30pm Monday - Friday. I have been studying at night and reviewing what I am learning there because there is such an overwhelming amount to learn. By the time the weekend gets here I am exhausted. It has been a whirlwind of a summer.

The city I live in is not that big and everyone seems to drive everywhere. I mostly leaflet (and table) local colleges and high schools where people are concentrated and actually walk from point a to point b lol. Last year I leafleted at a Christmas parade and also downtown during rush hour (3:30-4:30 pm) when all the office workers were getting off work. There isn't anywhere where a lot of people are concentrated this time of year outside where it is still legal to leaflet, especially on weekends, unless there is some kind of parade or other event. There are also laws about leaving flyers and leaflets around but I have left them (with permission) at a few stores and places like the humane society or the laundromat. I asked the library and was turned down, yet they have a ton of books on vegan stuff and ethics. Go figure.

Woah! That's amazing, glad you're somewhere you enjoy. Have you always wanted to go into that field? Personally I have no idea where I'm going and teachers keep pestering to choose what I want to do but I really don't know. I just go to the classes I like best lol ^.^ but this is my last year so need to decide what courses to study at college, hrmm.. It's great that you're doing that extra studying even if it's exhausting there's so many folk who go home and just forget everything, you're doing well. Is an ambulatory medical coder the same as a surgical medical coder?

Legal to leaflet? Oh dear haha well my city will have to be put through those terrors whether it's legal or not! :p It's crazy there's no where good to hand em out where you are, do they really enforce those laws? If you leave a bunch of leaflets somewhere surely they're not going to ravenously track you down.. right? Weird that the library wouldn't accept them I'm sure most have a little table just for things like that, or atleast the ones I've visited.
