Some Facebook friends that go to dog parks often keep finding fresh cubes of cheese with sharp nails in them, so that when a dog finds them and try to eat them they get the nail stuck in their mouth. I'm not sure what dog parks exactly these are but these people don't live in the same city so until I find more info I just wanted to tell all of you to keep an eye on your dogs in a dog park because I don't know if this is a widespread thing yet or not.

Okay, here's a picture (I was on my phone and couldn't post it earlier):

It sounds like they're being found in Chicago and Ma.

In searching for further details on this photo I was unable to find anything on Snopes, but did come across this:

Quote:
This story and picture which has started to circulate through social networking sites Tumblr and Facebook purports that a new trend at dog parks is for certain individuals to put nails in pieces of cheese in dog parks to presumably cause injury to innocent dogs looking for a free treat.

This message has actually derived from an apparently true incident that occured in Buenos Aires where popular online interest site www.perfil.com (published by Editorial Perfil) picked up on the story, using the same photograph currently being circulated by social network users. You can read the story on the site here. Though it is in Spanish, it essentially tells the story of how a dog walker in Centennial Park (a large public park on the outskirts of the nations captial) found dog treats littered in a nearby kennel all laced with filed nails.

The event, which judging by the date of the article occurred in July 2011, was not picked up by mainstream media and more importantly, after research on the Internet, we were unable to find any other stories relating to the message (other than other isololated incidents not directly related to the above message) thus making it unlikely that this is a "trend" - rather an apparently isolated incident many months ago...

Oh, that's good that it's not happening still, then, but that's so sad that it ever did happen, even if it was one incident.

Yeah- I saw that all over my FB, I was wondering what dog parks give out cheese cubes on a regular basis anyways? That doesn't sound too common.

It wasn't that they were supposedly being given out, they were supposedly being hidden in the dog parks, so dogs could find them and eat them.
I'm glad it's not real, though, because I wouldn't put it past people to do it and I'm sure it could be easily done, while a dog goes into a grassier area to do its business in the middle of playing, if you don't watch them enough, and they end up finding cheese and trying to eat it.
