Why is my dog eating grass all of a sudden. I've heard something about how dog's will eat it to clean their intestines of parasites. I'm not really sure if this is true, it's a stored thought from a long time ago that I'm not really sure I remember right. Anybody know if this is right?

My dogs eat grass all the time...my mom always told me that it helps settle their stomach. But, I could be wrong. Not like it's never happened <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/grin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":D">

okay, i was worried that there was some digestion problems or something. She's never eaten grass before, and now it's been almost every time we go outside for about a week. Glad to know it's nothing odd.

They are fine eating grass. My dog does that from time to time and then sometimes gets sick. She gets a sour stomach and once it's out, she's just fine. I take her to the vet once a year for a check up and take a stool sample. She checks out clean so I can safely say it's probably not a parasite. But, keep an eye on the poop anyway. And watch it's eating, drinking, and potty habits. If anything seems like it's changing take you dog to the doggie doc. How old is your dog?

Yes, my cat LOVES grass. She does it all the time, not just at certain times. I think maybe she just likes the taste. We even have some special grass growing in a flower pot that is placed next to her regular food bowl, so she can pick at it whenever she wants. She likes lettuce and califlower leaves too.
