Are you talking about uncooked or cooked rice? Cooked rice freezes really well. When I have some extra time for cooking I try and cook up a big batch of brown rice and freeze in individual portions for days when I'm pressed for time.

If you are wondering about raw rice, I'm not sure exactly but I think as long as it is stored in a dry, coolish dark place it should keep for several months. I have a bag of brown rice that has been in the cupboard for more than a year and its still fine.
I always store my brown rice, dried beans, flour, etc. in the freezer and have never had any problems. With the humidity in Florida I usually have to opt for either the refridgerator or freezer with all my grains.

I've heard that brown rice can store in the cupboard for 3-6 months before going rancid. Storing in the freezer, you can keep it for about a year. Since things like humidity can affect storage, you might have longer or shorter storage time IRL.

Cooked rice will store for about a week in the fridge and frozen... will store 6 months or so.

I store my cooked and uncooked grains in the freezer. They last longer without going off and I don't have to worry about buggies getting in my stuff.
