I am not a raw foodist but I eat raw broccoli and sometimes green pepper every night, and lately I've been finding myself craving these out of the blue in the daytime.

The only thing bad about eating raw green pepper is that it lingers on your breath for days after...

I've never had a veggie-breath problem, except from garlic

Last winter I was really anemic (had a huge abdominal infection secondary to a burst appendix) and I was craving spinach salads like crazy. I ate HUGE salads for a few weeks.. since then it's mellowed out and I'm back to preferring my veg lightly steamed or sauteed.

Oh yes. Topping the list for raw cravings are green beans, broccoli stalks (the buds are better cooked IMO), and all peppers. Sometimes I also just gotta have celery or bok choy. And yes I was just pondering the green pepper issue a couple of days ago, having tasted them about 6 hours after eating a bunch.

Ever since I had a bunch of raw Blue Lake green beans from a farmer's market in Sausalito, I've been craving them raw. I decided I like them better raw than cooked.

Tomatoes, cucumbers (ok, so neither are actually veggies), carrots, peppers, are all good but I can't eat them on their own (except carrots)... although I tend to crave these things on a regular basis, especially tomatoes, I absolutely need them to be mixed in with a salad, sauce, dip, etc. or I just can't stomach them.

And yeah, I hate burping up the cukes and peppers for days afterward.

I find it funny that raw broccoli seems to be so popular, but I can't tolerate it. To me, it has a weird, almost chemically taste to it that takes my breath away (not in the good way) if it's not at least steamed a bit. And yes, the chemically taste is still present in properly washed organic broccoli so I know it's not that... plus, raw broccoli burps are the worst of all and it's enough to keep me away from it
