Any good recommendations?
Me and my husband have been watching a ton of them lately- fueling the vegan fire for me and he is almost there (vegetarian). I feel like he needs just a little bit more of a nudge.

He gets into the political aspects of some movies- he loved Food Inc and it got him riled up. Any others out there like it?

I'm sorry to say I don't have any others to add to your list, but I would be interested in hearing suggestions too. I watched Food Inc. with my omni mother when she came to visit last, and got a strong (but positive) response from her. It seemed to really snag her interest in veg*nism and other food issues. We had a good chat about it and she was very supportive of both me and my brother (a lacto-ovo veg) for our choices. Since then she's picked up a few books and talked to me some more about it, but I'm pretty sure seeing things on film was a bit of a wake-up. It sure was for me!

There is a new one that just came out: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1567233/ "Forks over Knives" but we have to wait until it comes to DVD because we have small children and lack of babysitters. It looks awesome and I'm dying to see it. Thought I would throw that one in there for those who can get out to see it.

edit strike that: Its out on DVD now- yay!

I've seen Forks Over Knives recommended often. I hope it makes it to Netflix streaming, because I'd love to see it.

Forks Over Knives and Chow Down are both great documentaries (Chow Down is even available on Hulu). Earthlings is excellent, too, although I wouldn't consider it similar to Food, Inc.

for animal rights oriented documentaries there's also

Behind the Mask (about the ALF) and Skin Trade (about fur). Both great

1. Forks Over Knives - particularly suggested for friends who have already made dietary changes and are thinking of going more towards veganism.
2. Food, Inc - my favorite and a good documentary to share with friends or family who are generally concerned with food related issues
3. Super Size Me - this is going to be an odd suggestion but I have had as many people talk with me about diet issues after seeing this film as any others - veganism is portrayed in a positive light and Spurlock unloads on McD's. It would be good for folks who are not even particularly concerned about their diets.

Forks Over Knives is streaming on Netflix.

Death on a Factory Farm http://www.amazon.com/Death-Factory-...7672038&sr=1-1
The Cove - streaming on Netflix
Shark Water - Netflix has it but it's not streaming. http://www.amazon.com/Sharkwater-Rob...7672105&sr=1-1
Earthlings (as already mentioned and linked)
Behind the Mask (as also already mentioned)
Dealing Dogs - on Netflix but not streaming. http://www.amazon.com/Dealing-Dogs-G...7672260&sr=1-1
If a Tree Falls: A Story of the Earth Liberation Front - Not streaming but it is on Netflix. http://www.amazon.com/If-Tree-Falls-...7672386&sr=1-1

When you say he's getting into it more politically do you mean like food politics, just knowing where our food comes from and what the government is up to, or politically also for the animals?

I also really liked the Cove. Earthlings is super tough.

Recently I watched Forks Over Knives and also showed it to my mom (who is an omni). It is much more 'Omni Friendly' because it talks about your own personal health benefits. Since most, like my mom, don't tend to really care much about animals

The future of food.

Not necessarily advocating for veganism, but it will get you riled up.

On Hulu plus for sure, maybe Netflix streaming.
