I just posted in the "What's in your name?" thread about why I use 747. Maybe you guys have a theory about this:

As I've just posted: I always see 747. Sometimes it's 7:47 on the clock, 7:47 minutes into a movie, or the fact that my house is worth 174700 dollars on my tax statement, the lot number on my vegan vitamins in 0747, my account number for garbage pickup is 00747, our account for water is 1.747.5, when I look at old home movies the time is almost always 7:47.

I can go on.

I walked in a Wiz store once after the power had gone out and they had not reset their clocks, I turn to face the wall and saw 100 clocks blinking 7:47 at me.

When I time french fries in the oven for 8 minutes I always look at the timer for the one second as it passes 7:47 on the countdown.

The clock on my mantlepiece stopped at 7:47 when its winding wound down.

It is uncanny. I have never seen any other combination of numbers as often as I have 747, in all different places and under different circumstances. And my father and boyfriend are witnesses to much stranger things than those I recalled just now dealing with my presence and the number 747.

This has persisted for years and years and it has happened hundreds of times.

Why?

you are projecting this fixation on the world around you and anytime it hits on a 747 your fixation bounces back to you saying "look over here its 747"!!!!! it works like radar. you should try to fix on another combination, try the reverse of 747 nevermind.

Hi nice to meet you Valerie!

I don't mean to sound unsympathetic Valerie (I'm not), but don't let it become an blown out of proportion superstitious mystery element.....Just cast off this OCD if ever you can, because not everything begins and ends in your number... Far from it!!! IMO

By the way, Did you at anytime actually like knowing this number ever???

You can PM me if you like..... I for one won't tease you about it.

unless of course it goes toward helping you to not take it all too seriously, so in retrospect therefore may help you get over it hopefully!!!

hmm well some people would disagree. i see 11's everywhere personally, and for a couple months i was constantly being drawn to 'chinese' references. i dreamed in chinese one night (didn't understand a word of it) and people around me kept talking about china or chinese this or that, and someone showed me her antique china collection, and i'd flip the tv just in time to see chinese characters/calligraphy on the screen, etc...

i never figured out what it meant but it did stop at some point, after i asked it to. someone told me i should acknowledge that someone was trying to show me something, and tell them they could stop now. so try that, just in your head, say to nobody in particular that you understand someone is trying to show you something with this number, and they can stop now. you could also tell them you don't understand what it means and you need a clearer message, then pay attention to your dreams for a while

look around online for numerology websites and see if the numbers have specific meaning. could be a date or it could have a deeper meaning, or it could be nothing.

I guess you need to find out why you are so fixated on the 747 combination, and not the THOUSANDS of other combination you've probably encountered but never noticed. Probably because other combinations aren't as 'catchy'. Seven is a highly visible number, in that its culturually superstitious (Lucky Seven), and very common. So its not surprising that you are noticing a combination with TWO sevens. 4 is right between them, literally. 123*4*567. So I don't think its surprising that your brain has picked out 747 as a unique combination.

People see what they want to see.

Me? I notice that I see 333 alot. I don't freak on it though. 333 jsut isn't as eye-catching as say, 984 or 31459 or 298463555332-which are other combinations I probably see everyday as well.

if you haven't already seen it, you should watch the movie "Pi".

I'm glad we're such a lovely group of obsessive-compulsives. Personally, 747 does nothing for me, but 1124... now THERE'S a number (1124 pages in Les Mis, 11:24 on the clock, 1124 licks to get to the center of a tootsie pop... )

Ok, ok, I'm teasing a little. Whenever I become aware of something, though, I start seeing/hearing it *everywhere* ( a new word, a catchy number, a bass line...) I'd chalk it all up as normal. You wouldn't have noticed any of those numbers if they hadn't been 747 or some combination therof. Now when you start seeing the number 249 in close proximity to the number 3 and start thinking to yourself "those two numbers multiplied would equal 747..." THEN you should worry.
