Lately I've been all amused with these adorable astrology cartoons from derpastrology.tumblr.com - I like all of them, but this one (first attachment) is extra cute:

Anyhow, I like astrology stuff, but I'm not super into it or anything. BUT then recently I realized how many of my friends (good friends) have the same signs. Like many of my best friends, plus my roommate are Aries. I'm a Sagittarius, and we're supposed to get along really well with Aries, so I find it odd that I actually do.

Then I got into a fight with another friend (Taurus) who is all, signs are bull, and it sort of went on and on.

Anyhow, so it's not like I believe you should plan your life around signs or anything, but really it's amusing to me how many people I know who DO have traits of their sign. Seriously, I'm super Sag. Like I saw this "annoying Sag" poster (2nd attachment) and right away was like, uh oh, my poor best friend puts up with a lot from me.

What's your sign (not a pick-up-line) and do you believe that signs play a part in your traits or not?

LOL funny leedsveg.

I don't believe in horoscopes but I don't mind the cartoons or if people talk about it. Didn't the signs change recently though? So if somebody was born recently their sign would be different from before. Idk. It can be fun I think, but I don't believe it to be true. No need for your friends to fight with you about it though.

Did the signs change? That's weird...

No, we Scorpios don't believe in stuff like that. :serious:
Having said that, in late 1978, there was a horoscope for the coming year in my local newspaper and I seem to remember that all 5 of the predictions for Scorpios came true for me. Not generalisations either but "meeting the love of your life" [Mrs Leedsveg], "changing your work location", "buying a car" etc

It was uncanny....but I still don't believe in astrology.

I don't believe in the horoscope predictions, but my sign's traits (Scorpio) do happen to fit me.
One interesting thing though is that Scorpios and Aries aren't supposed to get along too well. That has been true for me so far. The childhood friend I had the most fights with growing up is an Aries. My ex is an Aries and we fought a lot too.

I'll say this. Every sign that I've dated who I'm NOT supposed to be compatible with, I'm really not - and the signs I've dated who I should according to the charts, I do get on with better.

I don't believe in picking mates based on signs, but it is really odd that I get along with Leo, Aries and other Sags better when it comes to those kinds of relationships. I find our traits mesh better.

I wonder if people accidentally act out their sign's traits and then because they're promoting those traits, I like them better because they're more like me.

I know a lot of people who are Aries who have trouble getting along with people. I adore every Aries I know, (going by astrology, I should - so it's odd that I really do) but I've seen them have issues with other people for sure.

I try not to pick mates based on signs either, but I think at this point I might actually avoid having a closer relationship with Aries people. I mean, I'm not going to be like, "Oh wait. You're an Aries. Can't date you", but I'll honestly go into the relationship not having much confidence in it. I find that they get angry too easily (even easier than Scorpios), and everything has to be their way. Not saying every Aries person is like this, but the ones I know are. One thing I like about Aries people is that they're supposedly ambitious. Too bad my ex wasn't. He had the negative traits of his sign, but very few of the positive traits.

I think the zodiac can be used like a big clock to measure history. "When Mars was in Sagittarius and Jupiter and Venus were aligned in Leo and the moon was in its last phase, the Emperor Wu Shin did marry the commoner Brunnhilde Rugen, who did then attain to immortality." But whether the earth's position relative to its neighbors' pre-determines or influences events is unknown. I don't rule anything out, but I'm skeptical.

I was reading just yesterday there's evidence the earth's great magnetic field may be on the verge of reversing its polarity. North would become south and vice versa. This likely wouldn't happen in our lifetimes, but say, within the next several hundred- to several thousand-years. Science believes the last time it happened was over 100,000-years ago. So, besides potentially disrupting our power grids and communication systems, would it change people's personalities?

I'm a Scorpio, the sexiest of the signs. :D

I enjoy horoscopes for amusement but I don't believe in astrology at all. There have been too many times where I have accidentally read a description of the wrong sign and still thought it sounded like me. Also my step-dad has the same sign as me and we get along but we are very different in a lot of ways, and we have vastly different experiences in our lives. The idea that my step-dad and I must be having the same kind of day because the stars happen to be aligned a certain way seems silly to me.

The human brain is very good at finding patterns and trying to seek order in chaos, the way they write horoscopes and descriptions of star signs is intentionally vague so it can apply to anyone at any time. You'll always find a way to make it fit you and your personality.

This is how I feel about Capricorns and Cancers - I've not gotten along with so many at this point, that I do kind of feel like I should avoid them. Since I'm only half a believer though, I don't think I'd seriously avoid specific signs - I just feel like I should.

My BEST friend is Aries and she's very hard to get along with if you're not me. All my good Aries friends have hidden tempers - but their pros to me are so pro, I overlook it (they're crazy fun and open minded) - also I'm good at blocking tempers.

This is true. Still... how come all the Sags I know are either super loud or crazy quiet - it's like there's ZERO in-between for them (me included).

And all the Aries I know are a lot alike and so on and so on with other signs...

I can't for the life of me figure out why being born at the same time would ACTUALLY make you like someone else born at the same time though. So, basically, I'm not sure what's up - other than you're 100% right about vague.

I'm Scorpio and Mrs Leedsveg is Aquarious, the two most opposing signs and yet we never disagree on anything. (Mrs Leedsveg won't let me.)
Ha ha ha! My son is Aquarius. I get along with him very well. And other Aquarius folks too.
