I used to buy one of their pasta sauces, but then noticed HFCS in the ingredients on some of the jars. Then today, my HFS had their lemonade on sale, so I bought it for my family to try w/o checking the ingredients. HFCS was the second or third ingredient....I expected more from them and don't understand how they can produce organic products, yet want to use HFCS!

I have noticed this, too. High fructose corn syrup is not a part of my diet either. It's dissapointing to see it in Newman's Own Organic products.

I'venoticed that in alot of 'all natural' and organic products. They all have HFCS or just corn syrup. I guess HFCS or corn syrup is still considered all natural/ organic.

well, technically, it is all natural, as it comes from corn, and corn can be organic. I would write Newman's about it though.

Yeah, I just noticed that too. I sent an e-mail to Newman's Own b/c I still think that they're close in some ways to Newman's Own Organics in principles, and I would still expect them to not want to use HFCS.

It's been awhile I know, but I sent another e-mail to Newman's Own customer service simply asking why they've chosen to use HFCS, and this was the reply ( well, a paraphrase b/c there was some were privacy thing on the bottom so I didn't want to just cut and paste):

We regret to hear that you disapprove of the use of high fructose corn

syrup in Newman's Own products. (I never said anything about liking or disliking it, just simply that I noticed it in a product and was wondering why they use it.)

We will forward your suggestions of healthier alternatives to the appropriate department. (??? I didn't suggest anything, lol!)

Thank you for your interest in Newman's Own. We hope that you will once

again try Newman's Own products and continue to be a valued customer.

Sincerely,

Newman's Own Customer Service Team

I really didn't expect a runaround from them, I don't think I'll buy anything from them unless there isn't an alternative.
