This has been kind of irking me for awhile, so I figured I'd post it here. I became quite pleasantly shocked this past school year when it turned out that three of the friends I made are vegetarians. It made me feel a bit less "weird" around everyone, and I just thought that it was REALLY cool in general. Made me feel like there was kind of a connection, you know?

Well, one of these girls (now that I think of it, I think I have yet to meet a male veg*n, IRL anyway -- the closest was this one friend of mine, but he just didn't eat red meat, and kind of just gave that all up when we went on the school trip to Europe -- which created the same sort of disappointment in me then that I'm talking about now! heh.) I hung out with more often than the other two, and it was cool because when a whole group of us was at my house, I wasn't the only one eating my cooking Anyway, she is now my best friend's girlfriend.

The other day, said best friend mentioned how she was going to start having "taco night" with him. I was like "uhhhhhh what? she's a vegetarian." But apparently, she was going to eat tacos for him, because she used to like tacos, and he likes tacos. And I guess she ate chicken "for him" as well.

Maybe I'm in the wrong here, but this makes me kind of disappointed in her, and kind of ticked off at him for what seems like him pressuring her to eat meat. But then again, if she so easily decided to eat some meat again just for him, I guess she wasn't all that dedicated. *shrug* Her decision, but wouldn't you be disappointed too?

YES. Definitely disapointed. But not surprised, or judgemental ... considering all the omnis I know. Just ... really, really, disappointed.

Yes I would be disappointed too. There is hope though in my opinion because the Veg*n seed is planted. The thing that makes me sader is that she's conforming to the person she believes her boyfriend wants her to be rather than being an individual. Is she a follower in other areas of her life? Or is he a control freak? Just stand by her to give her a shoulder if she needs it. Maybe let her know you're disappointed but that she's still your girl no matter what!

Disappointed, yes; desperately disappointed, no.

Your friend has fallen, help her up.

Yeah, that's disappointing. I've had that experience with lots of things - find people who seem to understand you, and that you can share with, then it turns out they aren't really serious.

But keep in mind that lots of people, especially when they are young, try different things for awhile and then don't stick with them. That's not necessarily bad - they learn from trying them, and sometimes come back to them later.

Ruthie - I realized when I posted it that I was going to end up making the guy sound like a control freak when he's far from it.. I tried to word it as best I could to avoid this, but I couldn't

Everyone - Thanks I think I'll bring it up some time, just casually, see what's up. I think I more or less want to know if it was her decision or his. If it was her decision, that's completely fine by me. If it was his, then they both get a great big
