i feel really pathetic posting this needy post

but i was just coming up to my two month veganniversary and then i find out that i have been drinking non vegan oatley

i can't believe it cause when i went to the health food shop and asked the lady for help (she was vegan) she never said that the fortified one wasn't vegan

i feel like its two months down the drain

two months of not eating any animal products, i even changed my toothpaste, shampoo and soap! but then all the time ive been drinking animal products
i feel really hypocritical cause i've told people i'm vegan when its come up in conversation and now i feel like i have been lying to everyone...

It was an honest mistake. It's nearly impossible to be 100% vegan all the time. Even people who have been vegan for years are sometimes surprised to learn that a product they have been using has and animal by-product in it. You are not a hypocrite.

Don't be so hard on yourself. Focus on the positive. A lot of animals were saved because you have been eating vegan food and using vegan toothpaste, shampoo and soap.

Non-vegan oatley?? You're not hypocritical, you didn't realise it had animal products in it and drinking it accidentally like that doesn't make you not a vegan. As others have said, being vegan is a learning process, and now you know to avoid that particular brand in future. Don't worry about it, it sounds like you're doing your best, that's all anyone can do.

like everyone else said, you are still a vegan. Everyone makes mistakes when it comes to strange bi-product ingredients. And it really is imposslbe to be 100% vegan. If i kill a millipede, therefor harming an animal, an i still vegan? Yes. Don't feel bad about your mistake, get over it, and move on.

sorry i spelt it wrong

its 'Oatly' which is basically oat drink made from oats, water and salt.

i won't have the fortified one again as that's the one that contained D3 (but only labelled it as D on the packet
) but luckily the original version without added vitamins is perfectly vegan
so i will drink that instead cause its so good, especially cold from the fridge

thanks to everyone for their support

i get a bit down when stuff like that happens and forget that veganism really is a journey, you can't help making mistakes and tripping up along the way...

btw, doesn't the new design for Oatly suck? The old design was far better!

When I can get my hands on some & can afford some, I buy the original thats vegan.. I never drank any fortified one, so I don't know about that, but thanx for letting us know....I hope you do well on your vegan journey and don't berate yourself for your honest mistake or I guess misdemeanour in the case of the shop keeper.

How please did you discover, the D3, in the end after it was too late n' all?... Anyway don't worry.... you're doing good.

hey first, big HUG

second, that's two months of dedicatedly committing to not eating animal products! you were dedicated and you did it. That is the most difficult part.

And now you learned something that you'd obviously want to have learned, so that your actions can be more effective.

I'd 'judge' you as being committed to veganism for 2 months, and your body hasn't been vegan, but you're sure going to make it vegan now.

Plus, after 1 year, 2 months won't seem long at all. The time spent learning is short compared to the time spent applying what you've learned

Really, you have 2 months of solid committment, and in 2 months you'll also have 2 months of solidly being vegan
