Hello!

I've only just started my path to being a vegetarian.
For personal reasons, I have chosen to become a lacto-vegetarian;


If any of you are lacto-veggies then would you please list a few day-to-day items that you eat? Just in general, as I feel Quorn tastes a little bit like rubber...


'Snacks' for after school are also appreciated!

Anytime! For some reason, I've been on a soybean kick lately. One "main course" that is simple, but very good, is tofu (cooked with rice vinegar and soy sauce), white rice, and soybeans.

My favorite snacks when I was lacto would be stuff like fruit with cottage cheese, veggies and dip, crackers and hummus, grilled cheese sandwhich, nachos and salsa, muffins, banana bread....
I could go on and on
I love food!

For snacks, I like fruit, yogurt (I use soy because I avoid dairy most of the time), almonds, raisins, and Clif KidZ or Luna bars. For faux meats (since you mentioned Quorn), I prefer Gardein, Trader Joe's, and Yves. The TJ's and Yves crumbles are really good (I suspect they are the same) in a casserole, chili, etc.

You want to know what I eat?


-Bagel and hummus
-Crackers and hummus w/ sliced tomato
-Dried fruit
-Mixed nuts
-Veggie sandwiches - hummus is a good spread to give these some weight, but garden herb cream cheese is also nice.
-FRUIT SMOOTHIE! Love these. Throw OJ, frozen fruit and a banana into a blender. Drink. Be happy.
-Soup. I love making vegetable, bean and/or lentil soup.
-Pasta. Nothing beats some whole wheat bow ties with tomato sauce, or broccoli, olive oil and TONS of garlic

-Stir fry
-Rice and steamed vegetables
-Chips with salsa, guacamole, hummus
-"Rice bowls." Some steamed rice with corn, fresh diced tomato and chunks of ripe avocado.
-Peanut butter toast
-PB&J
-Lentils. There's a whole thread on things to do with them

-Oven-roasted chickpeas with olive oil and sea salt - best snack on the planet.

Also, if you want a meat substitute, NOTHING beats Field Roast Grain Meat. Nothing

I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian. Everyone has already given great recommendations, but one of my favorite everyday snacks is Greek yogurt. It can have around 15 grams of protein in one serving (wow!) and it's soooo good.
I don't eat much faux meat like Quorn or anything, however baked tofu (w/ soy sauce and olive oil) is yummy and super easy to make. Like YellowRose, I would also suggest pasta. Some of the whole grain ones can actually have quite a bit of protein and it's really simple to throw in some veggies, tomato sauce, seasonings, and have a great meal.
