I hope I'm not the only new vegetarian who is going through this. I've only stopped eating me meat about 4 days ago and for the past 2 days I have been craving meat. How do I deal with that craving without resorting to eating meat?

Get into other types of foods and get another intrest of eating things like a favorite pasta dish or a favorite salad dish, I just got back from the store and I got the yves crumbles, there was a few other products by them that looks great.

Think about the fact that it's dead animal flesh with veins & such running through it. Not so yummy...

Have you tried Boca chick'n patties? They come in original and spicy and I think they taste pretty close to the real thing.

I'm not going to suggest faux meats because personally, when I first went veg, they were gross. You try to pretend they're meat and they just don't cut it. Kicking meat it like kicking any addiction, you will crave, but if you don't give in eventually the cravings will go away and you won't feel like you want it anymore. Soon meat won't even look like food. Stick with it and it will all be worth it in the end Make sure to stay full, when you get hungry is when you're likely to cave.

I WOULD suggest faux meats. Try Gardien Chik'n Strips. They are pretty much indistinguishable from actual chicken strips. Just to et you thru this. But afterwards, I'd try to cleanse the palate by filling up on really tasty veggie dishes.

Yes I agree our bodies don't need any kind of meats real or faux meats, try to explore different veg items I been doing that the last few years, i am not going on in a few weeks my second anniversary here and I am going to celebrate the 2nd by renewing my commitment of going all veg on that day. I prefer rice and beans and veggies and fruits and oats in my days.

When I first gave up meat I craved it. Well i thought I was....I was actually craving something savoury...a flavour called Umami...(another taste other than sweet, sour, bitter and salt)
Perhaps try eating something with a very savoury taste like noodle in a 'meat' stock. I know we can get them in the UK...cup o noodles with beef stock but they are completely vegan. Statifies my cravings.

I guess it is different for everyone but the faux meats worked for me also. They were such a tremendous help when I transitioned.

Have you tried hummus as a substitute for cheese? It works well on many things you would normally put cheese on, especially the veggie subs from Subway.
Also do you eat beans at all? Beans tend to be filling also and you can season them in various ways and create numerous different dishes with them.

Faux meat is more of an addition to my diet rather than a replacement.
