Does anyone else crave charred food? I used to burn my meat -because I couldn't stand seeing blood etc.- until it looked like jerky. I was so happy when I found vege-sausages because I can kinda get them a bit charred. I used to think it was the sausages I missed, which is strange because I always disliked the meat ones but know I think it might be the charcoal.

Is that really weird?

It might be weird, but I'm the same way. When I have veggie dogs they have to be burnt completely black and crispy. I rarely have veggieburgers, but I like them burnt as well. Back when I ate meat I would only eat it if it was crunchy -- that could be one of the reasons it was so easy to give up.

I doubt I could stomach veggie sausages. I never liked the real stuff no matter how charred I made it.

I, too, cooked my steaks and burgers to a perfect black crispy-ness. Maybe I just didn't like the taste of mushy flesh, I don't know...

But, you know, someone recently told me that charcol has actually been linked to breast cancer... Perhaps it's even better to be away from the grill than I thought!

i used to overcook my meat all the time. especially chicken, partly because i was paranoid about salmonella and partly because i liked it that way. i used to say i 'fry the hell out of it'

i looooooove the Yves breakfast patties (little sausage patties, so good) and yeah i do overcook them somewhat.

you know what i discovered though? i never liked chicken wings but i worked at pizza hut when i went veg and suddenly the bbq wings smelled really good to me, it was almost hard to resist them. almost last night when frying up a veggie burger for supper, i decided to put some of my roommate's bbq sauce on it and holy moly it smells just like the bbq sauce from those darn wings!
