I've just read a story on botox and was wondering if anyone here would get cosmetic surgery? I always said I wouldn't, but am only 19 and have no need to.

I had a friend who had surgery done at 17 (breast reduction), but it was for medical as well as emotional reasons.

Has anyone HAD cosmetic surgery or if you had the resources WOULD you get it done?

I see no particular need for me to get cosmetic surgery. True, I'm not as large in places as I'd like and too large in others, but it's not going to kill me, so I'll get over it.

I'd love to get a breast augmentation (I'm quite small) but I don't think i'd ever resort to cosmetic surgery. I just keep hoping that tomorrow will be the day that I wake up and discover I've grown to a C Cup!!!!

LOL @ Auroralily. But I bet you are in proportion with the rest of your body.

"In the future, we'll see faces filled with plastic beads, liquid silicone and cow collagen." This sentence was from the story i mentioned before. Very disturbing.

Not interested. The only thing I'd consider is a face peel or something but even then I don't think I'd ever get it done. My body is in proportion so there's no need for augmentations or reductions...

That's pretty much how I feel.

I used to think that (and still do to some degree) that why spend money on such frivolous things. But I really don't splurge on much of anything, and I think if I am middle aged, have led a splurge-free charitable life thus far, I should not feel bad if I want to spend a mere $3000 on surgery. Yes that sounds like a lot, it is, but many people spend that much extra on their cars, other things every year, month, etc. Whatever I decide, I will try to keep it my own business bc that's what it will be.

I do see those shows though, and they do make me want to go out and get my nose fixed, liposuction, spider veins removed, etc. But really, it's not going to change my life if I do that.

i watched Extreme Makeover the other night. scary. when they come out of surgery they're out of it for like, days. the consulting part seemed wierd to me too. they're sitting there and this doctor is screwing around with a photo of them on a computer screen, to show what the 'new nose' etc should look like and they're just like "yeah sure that looks fine" as if they're consulting about the colour they want their livingroom painted.

creepy. i'd never get anything done to my face i don't think. if someone offered to pay for it or if i won the lottery or something, i might do boobs, just for fun. at least it's something that's reversable in the future if something goes wrong or you hate them. ya just yank the suckers out lol

i have technically had cosmetic surgery though but i don't really consider it cosmetic. it was still covered under OHIP because it would have affected my sight if left alone. basically i was born with a tiny overlap of skin right between the eyes over the bridge of the nose. it managed to form itself into some wierd kind of cyst and in 10th grade the doc said it was going to keep growing and might eventually block my peripheral vision. it wasn't something very noticible, it just looked like i had no slope to the top part of my nose. anyway, had it removed, went to school with 2 black eyes, that was fun and now have a scar there that supposedly blends with the natural creaseline. i don't naturally have a crease there lol but whatever, most people don't notice it unless i mention it. friends i've known for years are shocked when i mention it and say they never noticed. i notice but if nobody else does i don't really care

After the mention of spider veins I got to thinking. My mum has quite a few and I have a tiny one on my thigh and apparently it's a herditary thing. I don't wear short shorts or skirts, but I think if I had the money and they got bad, I'd have laser surgery.

I would never get anything added (boobs, lips, chin, etc) but I probably would consider getting things taken away or smoothed out. Not now, but down the road. Everyone around here is into botox, but I think it's a little scary.

I guess I'm more focused on prevention... Staying out of the sun, living healthy (as much as possible), getting enough sleep, moisturizing, etc. And then when I've done all I can naturally, then maybe I'd consider a little help at some point.

My secret to always looking younger is to marry an older man. My husband is 41 and I'm 26 -- I can't go wrong!

If I wanted to get slimmer, I'll do it myself. If I wanted to get bigger in something, well, I highly doubt I'd want to. Any kind of surgery scares the heck out of me, anyways.

haha that's one way to do it (the marrying an older man thing)

i'm not worried about looking old in the future really. my mom looks ten years or more younger than she is. she gets hit on by 35 year old men. i call her a cougar it runs in the family also, her sister got asked for i.d. when she ordered a beer at dinner when she was visiting, she was 31 at the time. also apparantly if i have a kid i'll suddenly have gigantic boobs (for my standards, average size for the rest of you ) so i'm gonna just be patient and see how it goes

Yeah... with accidents if I were disfigured.

But otherwise I wouldn't get plastic surgery! Have you seen Dolly Parton lately?! Geez, her face doesn't move!

Yeah! My mom looks like she is in her early-mid 30's, and she's 46. My grandma looks like she's in her early 50's, and she's in her 70's!

I have good genes!

Absolutely not, sure there's lots of physical things about myself that I'd love to change. But could never do it. It just seems wrong. This is me and if it was changed then who would it be then?

I know this sounds funny, but my grandma is 85 and doesn't look a day over 70, which gives me a sigh of relief. To get to be 85 and still not look super old is pretty good. I think it is her full face (which I have, too, hee hee!)
