After discovering yesterday that one of my local vegetarian cooperative cafes has closed. The question has been raised in my mind does cooperative working really work? Is it possible to run a sucessful competitive cooperative? And if so how?

We can see worker's cooperatives enjoying a good bit of success occasionally.<br><br>
The Berkeley Bowl supermarket and Missing Link bike cooperative in my area come to mind. I think, though, that a large problem is the competitive capitalist environment itself, which holds low prices for consumers above worker welfare.<br><br><br><br>
