Convicted animal abuser Shon Rahrig may be trying to adopt pets in San Diego

Shon Rahrig plead guilty six years ago to abusing cats and puppies in Ohio.

He served 45 days in jail for his acts and since then has lived in numerous states, from Florida to California.

Animal advocates passed out fliers Monday at Dog Beach warning pet owners of Rahrig's upcoming move to San Diego.

Some pet owners 10News spoke had different opinions about the warning.

"I do think animals need to be protected, but you can take things too far and this seems too far to me," pet owner Jeff Kronenberg said.

"This is disgusting and not something small. People need to know he's capable of this because he's capable of doing it again," pet owner Dustin Rawls said.

Animal advocates say the goal is to warn anyone who might sell or give him a pet, like shelters or pet stores.

I posted this because he is still actively trying to adopt animals. I know a lot of people here work for shelters so this is to warn them. He moves around the country a lot and since the above article was published it's believed that he moved back to Long Beach, CA again.

The following links are to sites describing what he has done and they are very graphic...watch out.

http://www.pet-abuse.com/cases/352/

http://www.petfbi.org/issuerahrig.htm

45 days? That's ridiculous. Firstly, had his victims been human he would have got life, and no I don't expect people to get life in prison for animail killing any time soon, I would at least expect years not days! Secondly, that's (torture and killing of animails) one of the signs of becomming a serial killer (of humans). Even if laws and court don't have the heart or compassion to see the dreadful acts he inflicted on animails, you would think they would have the sence or- or the logic to see a man who can do this to animail for pure enjoyment, is a danger to society. -shrugs-
