Are there any tricks to doing this? I am not a coffee drinker, but I tend to drink copious amounts of coke and energy drinks during a day. I had slowed down, went two days with none, and today I drank 4 cokes and a ginseng rush.

Caffeine is terrible on a body, and this is probably my worst addiction.

Well I would think that gradually reducing the amount that you drink would be a better way to appraoch this. I would reduce your intake by half and once you are used to it and the headaches stop, reduce it to nothing and be prepared for some nasty headaches and feeling like crap. I am going through the gradual process right now and I find that I drink way more decaf tea now just to drink something!

It's amazing to me how I am so good about everything else I consume but the caffeine!!!! Every time I try to get off it even by simply cutting back, I go right back to it. I have been consuming caffeine now for about 45 years and I hate having this bad vice. The only good thing is... and it isn't good because it could be worse is that I only have one Diet Coke per day but the morning coffee is where I really need to draw the line. I've done every trick in the book with coffee and nothing has worked for very long. Hmmmm...guess I'm not much help.

About the coffee thing. Have any of you tried a coffee sustitute? Many kinds of whole grain, roots or even corn can be dried and roasted then ground for a coffee like beverage. Or mix half and half with real coffee. I like roasted chicory and barley mixed with fresh ground coffee beans and then perked {I do not like drip coffee makers}. Try it you may like it!

I can't think of any "tricks" to help you, but I found this thread...

people listed their advice on how to keep your energy up when going caffeine-free. There are some really good ideas there. It may help you with some of the after effects of your transition.

http://www.veggieboards.com/boards/showthread.php?t=7139

If you really, really need that caffein jolt every day and are having a really, really hard time giving it up, try this.

I heard { I hear a lot of things LOL}, that coffee applied to areas of cellulite buildup {you know, your assetras...........}, will help reduce it. So instead of drinking it, apply it to your skin, because your skin is just a great big sponge anyway, so it will just suck it up. Maybe you will still get the caffeine high you need, but not VIA the digestive system.

I kid you not, I have a jar with fresh ground organic coffee infusing in Extra Virgin Olive Oil right now. I am going to make a salve and try it.
