Hey...I was wondering, has anyone ever tried a colon cleanse supplement program? If so, would anyone like to share if it worked, and the side effects of doing so?
WOAH! I never saw anything like what's in those pics! Btw.. nothing like THAT ever came outta me!Originally Posted by wolf_tickets

Anyway, she has been scarred by something we saw on tv this morning. Long, intestine-shaped ropes of hardened, black fecal matter that must be pulled from the only reasonable orifice.
I can't post the link 'cause I'm a noob, but you can see some pretty graphic pictures at blessedherbs.com
.
Probably because you've been able to fully digest your food and absorb all nutrients before forcing it out of your body. Getting everything out of your colon unnaturally forces an imbalance in bacteria in your colon, increasing risk of infection. Let your body do the job it's designed to do.
I have to agree with the above. I had looked up the colon cleanse 2 years ago because I was interested in doing it myself. Realize if you are a vegan or vegetarian, chances are your diet isn't nearly crappy enough for you to have the kind of results shown in those pictures. Some of those literally look like the person ate rope. Also, as they don't provide pics of it actually coming out of their anal sphinter, I'm not sure I believe what I'm looking @ is legit.Originally Posted by Dirty Martini

If you want a cleaner colon, eat well. Eat whole foods (vegetables, fruits, nuts, whole grains) and you'll be better off.
One would think!Originally Posted by Dirty Martini

I still don't really understand the appeal of eliminating food waste from your body prematurely. Wouldn't that prevent your body from absorbing all the nutrients it can from your food? And, if the idea is to be "natural" and cleanse the body, why is doing an unnatural thing to your body a good idea? Wouldn't eating whole, unprocessed foods be the way to go?
The colon is such an important part of the human body that it should be clean. Even if you eat well it should still help. Anyways, I've been looking at doing something like this for probably more than a year now and hope to get started by the Summer.Originally Posted by Dirty Martini

My understanding is that there can be a build-up even if you're healthy. Is that not correct? There are precautions you're supposed to take that returns the beneficial bacteria, so that shouldn't be a problem if you read the right material.Originally Posted by Dirty Martini
Your colon's not supposed to be sanitized. The bacteria are there to do a job. Getting rid of them can dramatically increase your risk of infection.
Where do you get the idea that it "should be clean", and that your colon isn't? I guess if you're eating a bunch of junk, then your intestines are going to be full of crap (LOL). But if you eat a healthful diet, that's the most beneficial thing you can do to your intestines. And your body.
Many detox diets appeal to followers' desire to clean out the colon, which doctors consider a misguided aim. "Things don't stay in the colon for years and years and years," says gastroenterologist John Allen, who chairs the American Gastroenterological Association's clinical practice committee. "The colon is very efficient at ridding our bodies of waste." Unfortunately, the detoxifying work of the colon and other organs may be hindered by bad eating habits, say experts. A diet rich in leafy, textured greens, brightly colored vegetables and fruits, soluble and insoluble fibers found in whole grains, and healthy fats from nuts and lean fish accelerates the natural mechanisms by which cells fend off disease-causing chemicals. "People who have eaten themselves into unhealthy states can eat themselves back into healthy states," says Gerbstadt. But, she adds, there's "no quick fix."
I have a lot of respect for doctors, but there is a lot of dishonesty where they'd rather have people take trips to the doctor rather than use alternative means that won't make them any money.Originally Posted by Dirty Martini
