Well, I'm not so much freaking out, just being sad. I go to a very small school. In the entire school (K-12) we only have maybe 500 students. So basically the 40-45 students I have in my Senior class I have known since Kindergarden. We've grown up together. Also, the teachers and I are close. (But no, I'm not a teacher's pet. I just get along better with adults more than I do other teenagers.) And I've had most of my teachers nearly every year of high school.... so I'm going to be very sad to leave that all behind.

I am a little nervous about college because of all the new students and teachers, but not necessarily freaking out. I'm just going to be attending the Community College 5-7 miles away from my house, so luckily I dont need to move out or anything. I'm only worrying about where I'm going to get the money!

I'm going to get my associates in Humane Services. What are you going for??
Just fine, I'm actualy a Junior...but I know where I want to go, UC Davis, and I don't think I'm going to have a very hard time getting in. The only problem is paying for it, lol. I don't think I'm going to miss my high school, I'm going to be really glad to get away from them, teachers not so much, but the kids are super anoying.

wow, go you! that's totally worth-while. <3

yeah. i go to a really small school as well. in fact, my class is the largest one they've had so far, and there's only 30 of us, at a 7-12th grade school. i'm only going to miss a few teachers/students, but my best friend and i have vowed to attend the same college, haha. (good thing we're both staying in state...)

i don't want to be too far away... clemson and winthrop are too far, so i'm thinking USC. and since i'm only good at art, i'll be looking into that. i'm excited about AP art next year *_*

haha, i was freaked out when i posted this thread because i feel like my college counselor is haunting me... and it's still summer time. =.= save me...

You have a college counselor? We have a guidance counselor, but besides helping us set up college visits when we ask him to, he doesn't do much else to help us out.

Oh, and I love AP classes, because then you dont have to deal with the dumb students who love to goof around and just be an idiot! I took an AP European History class last year and I absolutely LOVED it. Although, I did not take the exam for it since I wont be needing it for my associates degree in Humane Services.

We only have one other AP class at my school, and thats English, which is probably my worst subject since I cannot write. (Although I still ace the class, I have to struggle to do so.)

Good luck with art! One of my friends is going to study art in Pennsylvania!
I'm excited beyond belief to go off to college. I go to a fairly large high school (700+ kids in my graduating class) but it's going to be great to get away and meet new people. It's a little scary to know that it's almost time to apply, but I know I'll pull through.

I couldn't even imagine being in a class that HUGE!
I'm starting college the end of this month! woot! I can't wait!

College is awesome! It was a bit intimidating at first, but the school I'm at is where a bunch of my high school friends go, so I wasn't so lonely. I ended up meeting a bunch of new friends too, so that was also pretty cool.

There are so many things to learn; not just academics, but social things too.

The college I'm at has a bunch of people from different countries and cultures, and it's so wonderful to hear everyone's different points of view in class.

I'm really looking forward to starting my sophomore year in college this August.

(I'm one of the older teens here obviously.)

Of course, college isn't all fun and games and enlightenment... It's also staying up late to catch up on papers and crap. Bleh.

But, it's good for ya! It builds character!

Right now, I'm at a community college, but after this year, I'm going to art school to major in graphic design. (It's cheaper that way!)

Staying up late to do papers is one of the things I'm not worried about having to get used to. My AP class basically prepared me for that! :p
Hum, 700 kids is your graduating class?.....I have about 1000. There is a good thing about having a bigger high school though: you have more classes to chose from, wether it be honors, AP, art, or anything you are interested in. And you can even pick your teachers (if your counselor likes you.lol
)

Its actualy kinda unfair, some hard working students get a hard teacher and get a B and then some lazy students get an easy teacher and get an A. It sometimes completely depends on the teacher you have.

Question: Do you guys rather have an easy teacher or a fun teacher?

I rather have an easy teacher because grades are everything to me, I really don't care if I enjoy myself. But, all my friends rather have a B or something with a fun teacher.

Hm. But most big schools also have block scheduling don't they? I would hate that. I dont even like taking quarter or semester classes unless both semester classes (to fill the one period) are taught by the same teacher.

And for such a small school like we are, we actually do have quite a few options. There are alot of woodworking and agricultural classes, and then we have TONS of art and extra english courses. We have several kinds of maths, and soon my school will offer either a AP Chemistry or AP Math. So for only having about 100 kids in the entire high school, we are doing pretty good with the options part. :p

As for that question. I'm lucky. My school has GREAT teachers. They are all incredibly funny and make the classroom a wonderful place to be, but most of them are not "easy". They make every student work for the grade they deserve.

And about that question... aren't easy teacher's usually the fun ones anyway??
Yeah, we do have block scheduling...everybody loves it. Its so easy, some schools have 8 classes all year long but they alternate, and do this everyother day I'm in this class kind of thing. Its confusing and I would hate that.

That is a lot of options for 100 students! wow. My school actualy has a lot of options for everything but science and math. The two subjects I am trying to take the most of. They have one AP class for math and one Honors for science! Arg....Everything else is history and English. English, its OK, but HISTORY!!! NOOOOO....lol...obviously history is not my thing.

I think that there is a difference between teachers being easy and being fun. Some teachers have a great personality and make you laugh....but only 2 or 3 people get an A in their class. Some teachers, however, are mean and weird and obnoxious...but they have 15 A's in the class. And both teachers will be teaching the same subject. Kinda weird...but it happens all the time at my school.

But thats Ok, its really not that bad...I went to school in France for 6 years and that was hell!

Usually the more fun a teacher is, the more difficult they are at my school. :p

And at our school, when they were adding new classes to the docket, they actually took surveys to see what the kids where interested in and everything. We even have extra Gym classes! :p

I'm starting at college in September but it's a completely different college to you guys as I'm in the UK.

I'm going to the Sixth Form College in town and I'm dreading it. Mainly the fact that people who I haven't seen since I was 7 years old because I had to leave my first primary school suddenly are going to be there. My father spread a load of stories about us around our old town and so it's going to be lots of fun seeing them again.

On the plus side, there's a veg*n cafe in town which is open everyday apart from Monday so my veg*n friends and I can go somewhere to eat without the stares.

As for my school teachers, I was pretty happy with who I got. If anybody here has got Facebook, sign in and go here. That's my Physics teacher and he also taught me and 8 other insane people Astronomy after school on a Friday. (Insane because it was a whole extra GCSE and as all of us want straight A/A*'s in our other subjects practically teaching ourselves Astronomy with hardly any previous experience because we had to do most of the work at home because we only had 1 hour a week instead of the 3 hours a week (on average) in our other subjects. Not good.)

i go to a college prep school, where high school is only about getting into college (i'm exaggerating a bit, of course) so we have a counselor to help us out. frankly i'm thankful for that, because truth be told... i don't feel in the least bit ready for this, so all help is welcome in my opinion XD

wow. 1000 people? *faints*

and here I thought 30-something was a big number. But then again, I live in the middle of nowhere. (random useless fact: my school is in the middle of a cotton/tobacco field XD XD)

I will find out on the 16th August whether I got the grades to go to either of the schools I chose, for 2008 entry. I am **** scared.

Luckily in about forty minutes I am going on holiday until the fifteenth, so that should take my mind off it.
University sucks! Don't go! It'll swallow you up!

... lol XD

my school is 6-12, we have about 500 students as well- 2009 senior class is about 70 people. i can't imagine K-12; being with the same people that long.

At my school we have about 800 students all together. It's small enough that you know everyone (because we've been with the same kids since kindergarten), but just big enough to feel invisible sometimes. I'm not too freaked about college; I've known what I've wanted to do since I was probably 10 or 11 and choosing my college wasn't too much harder. I know the best way I function, and as much as I would love to go away for all 4 years (a) I know I wouldn't handle it very well and (b) I can't afford it. So the most logical thing to do is go to community college where I can get a sense of how college works while being at home so that I feel comfortable and transfer after 2 years.
