I've heard about Colgate using animal byproducts in their toothpaste and now they've come out with a lovely herbal toothpaste. Sarcasm on the lovely bit.

Anyone know if it's vegan?

I don't know, IRP, but I'd be willing to wager that it's not. Just a hunch. *shrugs*

I've been using Kiss My Face's new toothpaste and have fallen madly in love with brushing my teeth because of it.

I got that too! I got so used to Tom's which is great, but very mild. When you use Tom's you know that you are using herbal. The Kiss My Face has that minty zing that the other toxic ones do. I love it very ~

Kiss My Face is a brand of natural lotion that has been around for at least 15 years, but I have only seen it at your typical 'health food' store. Im lucky to have 3 of those in my area so I see it pretty commonly but if you dont, you may have to look a little harder. If you have any health food stores around though, deffinetly start there. This tooth paste is so good, it is made with aloe too

I don't really have any info to back this up, but a friend of mine who works at a very reputable and well-known vegetarian advocacy group told me that she used to work with a guy who did work for Tom's. He told her that there was a clandestine line of paperwork leading from Tom's to Proctor and Gamble. Like I said, this is purely gossip and unfounded at this point, but I trust my friend and the quality of people who are hired to work with that particular veg*an organization. *shrugs* Ever since, I've been wary of Tom's.

What kind of "line of paperwork" might this be? I am clueless in trying to understand what sort of thing this might be referring to.

I guess it wouldn't surprise me that much. Even the groups that are against the animal rights movement still want to get our money, so it'd only make sense for them to start a branch company that appeals to us.

Kelloggs and Morningstar?

Proctor & Gamble and Toms of Maine?

wow, i'm sorry I don't care.

if you want to go that far don't bs yourself and think you can buy anything. if you want to dissect things that far you better start growing/making everything yourself.

i agree. everything purchased in a capitalist society has it's roots in some kind of exploitation, be it animal or human.

toms of maine is the only animal-testing-, animal-ingredients-free, commonly found toothpaste i can find. i will continue to use it.
