Cold Coffee Delight

Category: Beverages/Smoothies

Suitable for a: vegan diet

Ingredients:

------------------------------------------------------

Coffee

Vanilla Soymilk

Chocolate Soymilk

Sugar

Dark Chocolate

Instructions:

------------------------------------------------------

-Make some hot coffee and pour it into a cup until it is about 2/3 full.

-Add a piece (about 15 grams) of dark chocolate, stir it around, and let it melt in the coffee. The coffee must be very hot or the chocolate may not melt completely and there will be chocolate specks in the frozen smoothie!

-Add about 5 teaspoons of sugar.

-Add vanilla and/or chocolate soymilk until the cup is full.

-Place it in the freezer. When it is partly frozen break it up and stir it so that it is slushy. If it freezes too hard and icy, try adding more sugar so that it is more slushy.

Additional comments:

It may not work well and sound unconventional, since I thought of this when I added vanilla soymilk to coffee and thought, "This tastes pretty good. What if I add chocolate and freeze it?" You should have a nice coffee flavored slurpee with a touch of vanilla and chocolate. It is a nice treat for a warm sunny afternoon!

you could probably also put it in a blender with some ice instead of putting it in the freezer if you didn't want to wait

This was pretty good!! And another you could do is garnish it with some whipped cream right before serving. Yummy! Only thing is I had it in the freezer too long, so I had to heat it a little bit in the microwave to thaw it out. But taste wise-- delicious! Oh and I could have melted the chocolate a little bit more....And I didn't have any dark choc handy so I used semi-sweet chocolate chips.

I make a quick version of this .... whizz some ice up in the blender and pour into a tall glass. Pour over some strong cold coffee (the proper stuff, not instant). Stir in some chocolate syrup and pop in a straw. If I had vegan cream in a squirty can I'd top it with that. And maybe a grating of chocolate.

I really fancy on of those now. the sun has finally reappeared and I want a nice tall drink.

I will so remember that come summer. I love frozen drinks. A lot of calories most of the time, but that does not sound too bad, except for five tea spoons of suger.

I drink iced coffee all the time. Including winter. Folks at Starbucks think I'm nuts. Oh well. Will definitely have to try this one!
