Hello,

I'm sure this sort of thing gets posted all the time, but the message is obviously not getting through to the public. I have created a petition on the UK Government website and it would be great if people could sign it and try to spread the message to a wider community. Here is the link to the petition:

My petition:

Close all slaughterhouses

“You have just dined, and however scrupulously the slaughterhouse is concealed in the graceful distance of miles, there is complicity" Ralph Waldo Emerson The health, environmental and ethical reasons for becoming a vegan are well known. Stop the killing. Close the slaughter houses.

Quoting another Ralph Waldo Emerson here "Those who cannot tell what they desire or expect, still sigh and struggle with indefinite thoughts and vast wishes."

I'm happy you have clearly acted upon what you desire, & in many ways what the majority of us desire or wish to happen but I don't think we can win the battle with slaughterhouses anywhere for quite a few decades. India with a 40% + veggie population has been struggling to do so even after raising many eyebrows. Ultimately the goons who run them would use religion & intolerance as methods of assault against such closure. Still I do hope that many, many people sign your petition and stick by it. Its about time for the upheaval to begin, however impossible it may seem.

It is likely that if animals cannot be slaughtered in the UK farms will send them to other countries for slaughter. The long transit times are stressful and this just leads to more animal abuse. That's what happened when certain airlines wouldn't ship research monkeys to certain destinations, they just put them on longer flights.
