I was Googling around for some vegan foods that are good to get from Costco because my mom was going to go during her break at work, and I saw that someone said they have Clif bars for pretty cheap. I went to Clif's website and found this page, and apparently all the Clif bars in the original Clif line (I didn't check the others) are vegan. It actually shows that the Mini Chocolate Chip Peanut Crunch and Blueberry Crisp aren't vegan, but I think it's safe to say they are because the normal sized versions of them are, and I didn't see any differences in the ingredients from the normal sized versions of the bars, so I think since they might be more recent they were just programmed on the website wrong. Also, I don't think my Costco has the minis in their bulk packs. If all my local stores have are the minis, though, I'll email Clif before I eat them.

I used to go to Trader Joe's a lot when I was younger and lived near one, and I remember my mom would sometimes buy me Clif bars but I have little memory of what they looked like or tasted like, but I remember I liked them then. Now I'm really excited about trying them again, especially since the white chocolate macadamia and other chocolate flavors are vegan.

My mom ended up not going because the list I sent her was too long to get just on her break, but we're going to go later this week and hopefully I'll find them there. My grandfather also has a friend who's an executive or something like that at the company and gives him free bulk Clif boxes when he comes over, so maybe I can get my grandpa to give me some, or at least save some for me for when I come over to my grandparent's house.

I found out these are also high in protein so I think these will be great for when school starts because I remember them being filling, too.

Anyways, what's your favorite Clif bar flavor and are the Clif bars good? Have you had any luck finding them at Costco, and if so how much were they at your Costco?

White chocolate macadamia nut...mmmm....

The only kind I've tried so far that I did NOT like was the carrot cake. Too much nutmeg. It probably would have been fine with less nutmeg but it was so powerful tasting I couldn't even finish it.

The chocolate brownie is good if you are really craving sweets, but I find it too candy-like for everyday.

I also really like the chocolate chip peanut crunch a lot.

I've gotten in the bad habit of eating these a lot. There's nothing inherently wrong with them, but I shouldn't rely so much on processed foods. They ARE filling though and at $0.99 a pop I cave way too often. LOL

Wow only .99! That's great! From their fancy appearance and since I remember they had half an aisle at my Trader Joe's, I expected them to be really expensive. Cheap, unhealthy bars that pretend to be healthy like Nature Valley almond bars are about $5 at my local grocery store for a small box, and they're not even very filling or nutritious.

I think the Costco pack comes with Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Crunch, and Crunchy Peanut Butter, so those are all good less sweet ones that will make a filling snack when I have school, and then I'll just look for the specific sweet ones that I want in a smaller box at local markets or the next time I go to Trader Joe's, or ask my grandpa if he has any of the flavors I'm looking for because I know he doesn't eat them much, he usually just gives away the ones he gets or hordes them.

These are sold at Costco? I'll have to look for them since I plan on going there sometime in the next couple of days. Thanks for sharing.

These are great too- IDK if you tried them, they are minimally processed and only have a couple ingredients
http://www.larabar.com/

I LOVE the chocolate almond fudge ones

I don't really consider them "health" food though, they have some good healthy things in them but they also have so much sugar! It's like a delicious candy bar that happens to have vitamins and protein in it

Larabars are great! Not quite as sweet of course but a lot better for you. Vega has a line of energy bars out now too that are of similar quality.

I've heard they have those at CostCo, too, but I've never had them. Are they all vegan?

Quote:

Well it's healthy for me because I need to eat a sugary snack when I'm at school and can't always eat every half hour or hour so I like quick snack like bars And I meant more of protein healthy because I like things rich in protein because I try not to eat as much straight nuts or things like that because my kidney doctor doesn't want me eating straight nuts at all but if it's processed it's okay. Also I'm trying to gain weight so I'm trying to get a lot of protein. But yeah I guess they're not a health food but I just tend to call snack bars that

I love Clif Bars, they're great for camping, hiking, and climbing. But they do have a lot of sugar, so watch out for that. I think that LaraBars are a bit healthier because they're just raw fruit and nuts. (could be wrong, check the labels)

The carrot cake is one of my favorites along with the pumpkin pie. I'm a fan of nutmeg..obviously

They are pretty cheap (99 cents here too). Target carries them and I know Walmart used to but I'm not sure if they still do. Luna bars (not all are vegan)are great too and if you sign up for their emailing list you can frequently get free ones and coupons!!

Do you know where to sign up on the email list? I think Luna is owned by Clif but I can't find the email part on clifbars.com.

And I love pumpkin pie flavored things, especially strongly flavored or scented pumpkin pie and carrot cake things, so I guess I like nutmeg, too. I know I don't expect subtle carrot cake flavors in flavored things so hopefully I'll like the carrot cake bars, too.

Thanks! That's odd that Luna has a different website from Clif bars. I saw them all mentioned on the clifbars website, so I didn't think they'd have another separate one.

I've tried a few of the Clif bars - chocolate peppermint is awesome.

I love the larabars. It's become tradition for me to buy one for my sister and put it in with any gift I give her for christmas, birthday, etc since her name is Lara.

No, that just means they don't have dedicated equipment. The equipment is used to make other products that have dairy in them, so they just put that label on there in case someone might be allergic to any residue or anything like that in case the equipment wasn't cleaned completely. It's just to avoid lawsuits but the ingredients of the bars themselves don't contain any dairy.
