David Blaine does some weird stunts for publicity, and I think his career is fading away. Chris Angel is the new one on the block. I think he has some cool tricks, but nothing I couldn't explain away. Its easy to assume the people he uses are all actors. What do you think of the two?

I think they are both annoying, especially Chris Angel, whose stunts/illusions are so easy to see through. I just want to slap that boy!

I'm more impressed by really good prestidigitators, like Lance Burton (hope I got his name right).

I love David Blaine. Something about him just makes me watch his specials everytime they are on. His eyes are pretty mezmerizing and unique. Now I have only see one episode of mindfreak and it was so staged. Everyone on the show was obviously an actor and all of his 'tricks' were very easy to decipher. Im sticking with mr. Blaine

I like how you all know how cris angel does his tricks, but there are no explanations. Are you guys magicians too? Keeping all the secrets to yourself??

He blows my mind all the time and I like his positive messages on inspiring people to do anything they want in life.

When you guys find out how he makes himself dissapear in public, walk on water and levitate from one building to another, putting a quarter up and out his arm, sending 2 people back 20 feet with a snap of the fingers, let me know. I look forward to reading it.

Its all on TV which makes it very easy to manipulate. Cables, trick videography, actors playing the roles of unknowing bystanders, etc etc.

How do you know they are not actors. I have seen some things that suggest they are actors, such as bad acting. LOL

This is kind of a pet hobby for me (haven't practiced in far too long), so it's fun and surprising to see a magic discussion come up on these. They are both very talented performers. It's kind of like Coke vs. Pepsi.

Blaine is tremendous with cards and has really developed a special presentation. The whole thing sort of revolves around this character he has developed who is kind of mysterious and out there. What really makes him special is his ability to make you believe that he believes in it. I also think the editing for Blaine is more effective than the Criss Angel stuff I've seen (this is a big part of it).

Angel is not as gifted with cards (which, in a way is part of his act), but is really innovative and always bringing new things to the table. He has shown a desire to try things that people haven't seen before. He also seems like a genuinely cool guy in the interviews and things I've seen with him.

Personally, I prefer Blaine as a performer, but Angel is doing a lot to further the art for magicians. He is generous in terms of sharing his tricks within the community.

like ludi said, chris angel's tricks are really obvious and annoying. david blane is really doing stunts and "feats" not really anything as a classical illusionist. I think magic is (not that there's anything wrong with that and magicians do seem to enjoy wearing capes). Seems like the only thing left is anti-magician magicians like the amazing jonathan and penn & teller, the ones that don't treat the audience like idiots basically.

I love my Chris Angel. His main objective is to shock people with his illusions. No, he can't really walk on water or pull a person in half, but the way he puts on a show and presents it is what fans love.

and he's not bad to look at, either! i have to give him credit for performing illusions at things like birthdays and social events, making everyone smile and laugh, and leaving as quickly as he came in--he seems like a friendly guy who is easy to get along with, whereas i think blaine seems to believe he is some sort of god .
