Hi!

Ive been a strict veggie for 11 yrs but Ive recently been trying to be more of a vegan! But Im a bit rubbish at it to be honest! Ive giving up milk, eggs, icecream, yogart, all that kinda stuff (mostly, sometimes Ive had the odd cake - egg obv! :S and things!) but the 2 things Im havin problems with are cheese (the soya one isnt the best is it really hehe!) but mainly chocolate, which probably makes it worse as I work in a choc shop hehe! Ive been eating 70% dark at work, but it still has milk traces Ive tried a few of the vegan ones but theyre all a bit gross haha! can any1 recommend any that are tasty? Im soo missing it and neeeed to find a good vegan one b4 I explode haha! thank yooouu!

hi again Becky

Here is a link to a vegan chocolate review

http://veganreview.blogspot.com/2005...chocolate.html

So far out of the bunch they listed, I've only tried the 'Tropical Source' Hazelnut Dark Chocolate, and being a hugh fan of milk chocolate (well, used to be before going vegan) I didn't think I'd like it, but its sooooooooo good!

My favorite chocolate is terra nostra dark truffle... it's 57% dark, and is vegan. I find it quite creamy and not bitter at all.

I love the endangered species ones, my fave being the extreme dark (to me, the more cocoa, the better!) and at least in buying them a percentage of your purchase goes to help the environment and the animals...a perfect combination

I haven't heard of any of the above brands, so maybe they are available only in the US?

In the UK, try the Plamil ones, if you haven't already. Some of those are very good and they come in different flavours; you will find them in a health food shop or in large supermarkets. They are all vegan and some are a bit like milk chocolate, rather than being very rich and dark.

Green and Black's and Lindt make high % cocoa chocolates. For amazing truffles, try Booja Booja - they are gorgeous, but quite expensive. Perfect for a treat though.

They are the main ones I can think of for now.

Green and Black's DEFINETLY, especially the mint bars, which taste way much like those peppermint patty/ junior mint things, if you were missing those. Endangered species bars are awesome too, and for a good cause, if you don't mind the whole "produced on the same equipment as..." thing.

If a person who likes and eats chocolate buys carob expecting it to taste like chocolate, they will be sorely disappointed.

Yes, the dark chocolate ones are great! They also come with a coupon in the wrapper.

The last one of those bars I bought had a coupon that had expired 1 YEAR previously.

C'mon by MrsFalafels chocolate factory and shop. She's always got a selection of handmade vegan chocolates available. My faves are the kirsch cherry chocolates and the peppermint creams.

She'll even make you custom ones if you have a large enough order.

Plenty of vegan chocolate out there if you know where to look!

Hachez is a German brand that may be available in the UK. Not all of theirs are dairy free, but they have some 70% dark ones that are. Talk about smooth!

I never really acquired a "love" of chocolate. I really can't see the lure. I'm a girl even, and we are supposed to be addicted to it. I like sour fruit candies-- thats all! I guess I am weird. So I would say in answer to your chocolate problem-- just quit eating it.

I'm not addicted to chocolate but I do get a taste for it every so often. I acutely miss it. I thought going vegan I would miss cheese the most but, turns out, it's chocolate that wears that crown.

Just an idea, I've tried several dark chocolates and I dislike them all. The last one I tried was Green and Black (my Target just got a few flavors in and they were on sale even). I bought it today and it was yucky. It's not the chocolate so much as the fact that I hate dark chocolate I guess.

All my failed chocolate bars become experiments though. lol I melted down the G&B bar and mixed it with a few globs of peanut butter. Then I put it back in the fridge. The peanut butter sort of cut the bitter taste a bit. It was tolerable and gave me the chocolate taste I was looking for. You could try doing that. I've mixed it with confectioners sugar too but it doesn't harden well. Good luck!
