Does anyone have a recipe for chocolate syrup or hot fudge? How about strawberry syrup? I'm looking for some "ice cream" toppings.

What I would really like is to just buy some, but the only syrup I've been able to find is primarily made of high fructose corn syrup.

My recipe is 1/2 c. cocoa powder, 1 c. water, 2 c. organic sugar (I use sucanat), 1/8 tsp. salt, and 1/2 tsp. vanilla (or more or less... Or any extract). Hazelnut extract is awesome in it.

Mix cocoa and water, dissolve cocoa. Raise heat, add sugar, stir to dissolve. Boil for about 4 minutes. Add salt and extract. Fridge!

Alton Brown made some on Good Eats the other night. Here is his recipe:

1 1/2 cups water

3 cups sugar

1 1/2 cups Dutch-processed cocoa

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

2 tablespoons light corn syrup

In a small pot, bring water and sugar to a boil and whisk in cocoa, vanilla, salt, and corn syrup. Whisk until all of the solids have dissolved. Reduce sauce until slightly thickened. Strain and cool to room temperature. Pour into squeeze bottles. Squeeze into cold milk and stir for delicious chocolate milk or serve on your favorite ice cream. And, hey, it's fat free!

I actually found some organic chocolate syrup today, but thank you for the recipes. I'll keep them on hand for when I'm feeling a little less lazy and a little more broke (that ****'s expensive).

I would still like a good strawberry syrup recipe. Someone must have one.

I don't have a recipe, but Santa Cruz makes one that most health food stores carry that doesn't have any high fructose corn syrup. It does have some organic sugar though. I don't know how you feel about that.

I make a strawberry syrup, but it's more to top cakes and ice cream - not to mix in milk like chocolate syrup. Is that what you're looking for?
